The car rolled to a stop in front of a gorgeous house, in a very upscale, nice neighborhood. A far cry from the flat that Jae and Ava rented in the heart of the city of Paris. This was what they needed, or that was what was in Jae's mind, so he'd bought the house as a surprise for his wife Ava. They were expecting a baby soon, and he wanted her to feel comfortable about bringing the baby to a real home after the hospital. He knew how much a home meant to her, she'd been adamant about it when they were only friends, she was really upset with her father until he moved them from the Hotel Liv to a real home. So Jae was going to give her a real home as well, a place their children could grow up in, and possibly want after he and Ava were long gone. Ava sat next to Jae, a blindfold over her pretty eyes, he hadn't told her where they were going, only that he had a surprise for her. "We're here," He spoke into the quiet car, Jack had helped Jae find a place that was safe, reasonably priced, and would fit their needs. It wasn't too far from where her parents lived either, since they were so close with them, it was a must that they were close to one another. Every weekend they usually met up and saw one another, or at least every other weekend. Jae took one more glance out the window, then got out, Jae rushed around the car and opened the door for Ava, he helped her out. He would lead her all the way up to the door, because Jae didn't want her falling, he had to protect her and their baby girl at all costs. He thought she looked so adorable with the baby bump, Ava was meant for having babies, she put all other pregnant women to shame with her beautiful self. Jae stopped in front of the door, put the key in and turned it, he shushed Ava, since she kept asking what was going on, and led her inside, "Here's the surprise," He said just before releasing her blindfold. (Do you want to find house pics or do you want me to?)
Ava couldn't help but fidget. Her fingers were flicking against each other, and brushing against the hem of her dress. She was just nervous, but how could she not be? Her husband had just loaded her into their car and blindfolded her, gushing about how their destination was a surprise. Excitement was buzzing through her veins, "Jae, babe, where are we going?" She asked for the tenth time. Ava wasn't exactly good with surprises, she was a very organized person. Hell, she'd planned their wedding over a year in advance, and had color coded guides for every member of the staff at the event. But Jae never picked on her for that, no, he understood her ocd tendencies and it seemed that he adored that about her, too. Before she could ask again, Ava felt the car pull to a stop. Jae killed the engine, and Ava could hear the excitement in his voice when he announced their arrival. Ava bit down on her lip, trying not to grin too much. If he was that excited about this surprise, it had to be good. Soon enough Jae was at her door and she stood with him, standing nice and close in the chilly fall weather. "Jae what is this?" She asked, her hand going up to touch the blindfold, but he swatted her hand away. Ava heard the unlocking of a door, and then they were stepping through a threshold of sorts. Finally, Jae untied her blindfold and Ava's green eyes sting for a moment, adjusting to the light of the room. Yes, a room. A huge room to be exact, a big foyer with bare walls but a pretty shade of blue adorning them. Dark wood covered he floor, but everything was blank. It was an empty house, or just an empty foyer, and Ava looked bewildered and confused. Why would Jae take her to an empty house? It was gorgeous, but what exactly was going on? But then Ava looked over at his face, his stupid, grinning face, and it clicked. "Oh my god..." She said, her green eyes widening as one hand went to her baby bump. "Jae, is this for us?" She asked, her eyes already pricked with tears from how emotional she could get.
It took a few seconds of blinking for Ava to really look around them, Jae's eyes never left her, and he was smiling like an idiot. He was more excited than a child on Christmas, this was one of the biggest surprises he'd ever given to Ava, besides the day he proposed to her of course. She finally asked the question he'd been waiting to hear, and her eyes were welling with tears. "Yes," He pulled her into a hug, kind of an awkward one with her swollen stomach, but a hug nonetheless. "I wanted to give you a real home," He murmured into her hair before releasing her, "Should we have a look around?" Jae's hand grasped hers as he tugged her along with him to look further into the house. It was a large home, but not so large that they would feel overwhelmed It showed a bit of the wealth they had as well, but not overly so, not where they were obviously bragging. Jae had been hired by his father right out of school, and he was thriving in his position, even if it was a bit miserable because he was working for his father. It would be worth it in the end, his father had promised to hand over reigns of the company to Jae eventually, and with the pay Jae got, well he couldn't exactly complain. Jae's mind focused on the task at hand, he led her straight to the kitchen, it would be perfect not only for cooking, but entertaining as well. He let go of her hand and opened his arms wide as he asked, "What do you think? Will it work?" Then his expression turned concerned, "If it doesn't suit you I can get a different one, I can ask to be let out of this, and we can go look for another place. I just want you happy, so if this isn't what you had in mind for a home..." Jae just wanted everything to be perfect for her and their soon-to-be-born child.
Jae's arms were closing around her, and Ava buried her face into his shoulder. He's gotten them a home, a home for their little girl to grow up in. Ava felt so overwhelmed with emotion, she was trying to hold back tears, but how could she? She was sure that she had the best husband in the world. Jae just wanted to take care of her and their baby, the little person growing in Ava's stomach was gonna have one hell of a dad growing up. Taking in the house, Ava felt so blessed. Each room was even more beautiful than the last, and as she took slow steps through the house with Jae, she finally felt a tear slide down her cheek. The kitchen was magnificent, with a gorgeous island and perfect countertops, white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. But Jae sounded concerned when he next spoke, and Ava had to hold back laughter. "Does it suit me?" She giggled and turned to look at Jae. The tears in her eyes were of happiness "Jae, it's beautiful. It's..it's perfect." She said, smiling a sappy, happy smile. "I mean, call me dramatic, but I can see myself making her breakfast every morning right here, making birthday cakes together and teaching her how to make frosting. I can see cleaning up the messes and spills and you, I can see you with your messy hair every morning drinking out of the orange juice container even though I hate it." She said, wiping her eyes and leaning in to kiss Jae quickly "It's beautiful, I love it." She promised, one hand rested on his cheek.
Why was she crying? Jae stepped forward, his hands cupped her cheeks as his thumbs gently wiped away some tears, his hands dropped back to his sides as she spoke. She liked it? Jae grinned like a fool, Jack had reassured him that his daughter would love the house, but Jae hadn't been so sure, he knew that girls could be picky, and especially his. She came forward and kissed him, he put and arm around her and looked around some, "This is where her first steps will happen, the birthdays, the sleepovers. Because she's not allowed to sleep at other friends houses," Jae sounded quite serious, "Her friends can come here to sleep, I want to know where she is and what she's doing at all times. Unless she's with your parents... even then, do you think two is too young to have a cellphone?" His thoughts already fast forwarding years before child had taken her first breath yet. He would of course not allow his own father to take her, they could have supervised visits. Noah already wanted to babysit, Jae had given a firm no on the idea, not unless Minnie would be there too, and even then... yeah he was letting the baby away from them until she was older, that was for sure. "I've ordered our stuff to be moved here, but it won't fill up the house, so there's magazines in the car for you to look at. You can decorate however you want, and there's a huge bedroom next door to the master suite that you could use as the nursery? Come on," Jae took her hand once more and led her to the stairs to go up and look at the master bedroom and possible nursery.
Jae was looking into her eyes and Ava had to smile, he was so happy that she liked it, she could see it on his face. "She can have sleepovers when she's 11, I think that's fair. We can't trust other parents to take care of her unless we know them well..." Ava agreed with her husband, she wasn't going to let the baby out of her sight for a long while. "I still can't believe it...Jae this is our house." She told him, letting him lead her around the house. A home was a big deal for Ava, and the one Jae had picked was absolutely perfect. Crown molding on the top of the walls, lightly colored walls that would match Ava's artwork perfectly. "This is perfect, now I can spend my time here decorating her nursery and the rest of the house, I've been so bored lately." She teased. Ava currently worked at her father's company as the Vice President of McCloud Industries. Her father of course made her take maternity leave early when her stomach really started to swell, so she'd just been around the flat and on Pinterest all day long, making different foods and dipping everything in chocolate. "Can we move in tonight?" She asked him, her eyes bright as she looked over at him. They were nearing a pair of doors that she assumed lead to their bedroom "Oh my god we have French doors Jae," she grinned, tugging him along to see their new room.
He thought that she would enjoy a new house, he knew she was getting antsy being at home all of the time. Apparently she'd been calling Minnie and Anne a lot, because both girls had texted Jae and let him know that he needed to make sure Ava had things to do. This would give her something to do, at least until the baby could arrive. Because as soon as the baby arrived, well then she'd be busy with her nonstop. At least that was what he was assuming, Jae didn't have all that much experience with babies truthfully. Their child would be a whole new experience for him. "Mm double doors, yes," Jae led her inside, surprise, there was already a big, king sized bed in the room, but it was the only furniture there. "We can move in tonight if that's what you want," Jae would make some calls and get some of their belongings moved in that night, and the rest could be moved in gradually over the week. "Your parents are a five minute drive away, so if you need your mom she's just a phone call away," Jae added, wanting to make sure she felt safe in their new surroundings. "Oh and look," Ava's hand was grabbed once more and she was led to a big window, Jae pointed out the window to the broad, expansive back yard. "What do you think? Should we have a house warming party eventually?" Jae didn't like those sorts of things, but he knew that it would be good to have one, it was something their friends and family would appreciate, and it would give Ava time socialize right after the baby was born.
At seeing their bedroom, Ava just felt so overwhelmed. It was gorgeous, and Jae had already gotten them a new bed, by the looks of it, with a beautiful whir headboard, ready for Ava to pick sheets and pillows for it. Jae cared so much about her, and their baby to come, that he'd wanted to make sure everything was perfect. They were five minutes from her parents, the nursery was right off of their bedroom, their backyard was something out of her dreams. "It's absolutely perfect Jae.." She told him, leaning against his side as she looked out the window. "Near my parents, big but small enough for me to maintain, a gorgeous yard. I just can't believe how perfect it all is." She said softly, turning to look up at him. Ava was holding both of his hands and grinning from ear to ear, it was a smile that was usually reserved for Jae, no one else but him could make her that happy. But she supposed when their daughter was born she would share Jae's possession of her smile. "I'm so lucky to have you as my husband, I love you so much." She said, squeezing his hands in hers. Of course her pregnancy made her hormones go crazy, but Ava really was feeling overjoyed in their new home. And with Jae...god she was so lucky that her parents had decided to move to Paris, that she'd said that one snarky comment that one day in the entrance hall at school. She was so lucky, this man was all she needed and more, and now he was giving her a baby girl.
The thought of owning a home with his wife, well it had been a bit intimidating, a real adult move. And though he was quite serious a lot of the time, when not around Ava and Noah, Jae hadn't made any big life decisions aside from marriage. Him and Ava had been renting a flat since they married, and though it was in the heart of the city, and only a couple of minutes from everything, it didn't offer that homey feel. Nor did it offer privacy or space for entertaining really, so this would definitely be a huge change for the young couple. Jae slid an arm around Ava's waist comfortably and gazed out into their backyard. "I love you too," He murmured in her ear, he could see them having picnics in the backyard, as well as barbeques, birthday parties, and maybe a New Years party now and again. As he gazed out he smiled, the whole place really was perfect. The tree's outback were changing colors with the season, and he oculd tell that there would be many family pictures out back if his wife had anything to say about it. "Should we order in? Or go out? We need to make some calls to get some of our stuff over here too," Jae rubbed Ava's tummy affectionately. He felt a kick, his smile widened, "She's hungry too apparently, she wants her mommy to eat some good food, and maybe some sweets after?"
Ava pursed her lips and grinned widely when her baby kicked inside her stomach. So far along, she felt kicks often, but it was always amazing to see that smile on Jae's face. "Mmmm babe did you know I can speak baby kick?" She asked, placing her hands on the sides of his neck and holding on tight. If she was being honest, she couldn't wait to just have her baby already. Jae had been really good about it, but she hated the weight she'd gained with her pregnancy. Her old body couldn't come back fast enough. All of her regular clothes were sitting in her closet, begging to be worn again. "And since I can do that, I can tell you that she wants pizza. From that nice place that delivers. She also wants you to stop pushing fattening foods on mommy, she doesn't want a fat mommy." She teased, leaning in to give Jae a big kiss, not a little teasing one like before. After a few moments though she pulled away, staying close. "We can have a picnic in the living room." Ava stated, biting down on her lip. Her husband was such a perfect asshole, she could kiss him all day long.
"That's a unique skill, talking baby kick, does she say that she loves me more? I'm sure she does," Jae teased, he kissed the top of her head. The two of them, in their new place, it was a surreal feeling to be sure. Jae knew that they would make many memories there, together as a family. He scoffed, "I am not trying to feed you fattening foods, I'm only trying to make little one happy." Jae shook his head as he took her hand and led her to the bed, they could sit there while he made the phone calls. "What are we going to name little miss? Did you think of any names yet?" His dad had texted him a lot of names, but Jae had ignored every single one, because in his opinion his dad had no say so over the baby to be. "You're not going to get fat, you're perfect Irish," He muttered just before putting the phone to his ear. "Oi, Ricky, I need you guys to go ahead with that list I gave you, yeah everything on that list, mmmm dae," He hung up, then dialed the pizza place, he put in their normal order, before hanging up and watching his wife, giving her his full attention. She thought that she was gaining weight, but Jae believed it was all baby weight, because she'd never looked more perfect than she did just then. She'd really matured and become a woman, she was no longer that young, naïve girl in the school uniform that he used to follow around.
((Omg that last sentence just killed me))
Ava scoffed, shaking her head while looking up at him "Hell no, she's already told me that I'm her favorite." Ava teased, her smile only widening as they stood together. They may be adults, may be two weeks from welcoming a baby into the world, but she still teased Jae more than anything else. He was the love of her life, but he was also a huge idiot. Ava didn't mind Jae leading her towards the bed. She just called into it beside him, tugging on his arm so he would lay with her "You can say that, you're not the one that's gained 25 pounds." She grumbled, cuddling up to the warmth of his arm and side. "I dunno. I like Maddison, Marie, Celine...and I thought about Jacqueline, like after my dad? But it might be too cheesy so I don't really know. Have you come up with any?" She asked, her hand running down her numb absent mindedly. Their baby was so close to being there, Ava could feel the stress starting to affect her, the tension in her shoulders and neck build up. She tries to relax, though, looking over at Jae "I think I'm gonna take my da up on using my old nursery furniture here. In this place it'll actually fit. Do you think it's a good idea?? Ooo we need to go get her some stuffed toys and things before my due date... We should do that one night this week, together?" Ava proposed. The idea of going to get stuffed animals and binkys with Jae after he works one night was a good prospect, he always got excited to get things for the baby.

"I think not, I'll be her best friend," Jae grumbled as he lay down with her, she snuggled in against him and he cuddled her right back, quite freely. His heart still sped up when they were close to one another, but he didn't let her know that, it would make her ego bigger, and that was something he didn't need. "Its all baby weight, you'll go down in the Guinness book of world records for biggest baby born in Paris," Jae looked serious, but his eyes were light and amused. He nodded his head to her names that she'd picked out, all good ones, except the Jacqueline one, Jae couldn't agree with it. As much as he respected Jack and enjoyed getting on the old man's nerves, he did threaten Jae quite a few times, so he wasn't sure he wanted his kid named after him. Maybe if they had a son... he wasn't sure though, it would have to be after they developed a closer bond for sure. "I like Maddison, can we nickname her Maddie?" Jae imagined a little girl running into his arms calling 'daddy' or 'appa' every night. Honestly he was so excited for their child it was ridiculous. "Mm I think you're baby things would be perfect for our baby girl, you could text him. You need to let me know colors for the nursery as well, I'll get painters in here soon..." It had to be painted before the baby was born, so that the baby could be in the nursery. "Shopping? Yes lets, we could go to that cute Parisian baby store near the Eiffel tower? You know, the one by that chocolate place you love so much? Did we get a stroller yet? Or a car seat?" Jae was all for buying baby things, he would buy the world for his girls if they wanted it.
Ava rolled her eyes, of course he'd be her best friend. She was going to be a baby for gods sake, the fact that they were already competing to be her favorite probably wasn't the best sign for the new parents. "Whatever you say, Jae." She teased, imagining how her days would be going quite soon. A schedule revolving around her daughter. Waking up, taking naps, making dinner, games of peek a boo, whatever it took to make her girl happy, she would do it, no questions asked. Her happy nature was gone, though, when he talked about her baby weight. Ava grunted angrily and smacked at his chest a couple of times "Don't be such an ass, I miss my old body, it's been eight and a half months." She whined, snuggling her head into his smooth chest "Maybe I'll have my Dad bring over my old treadmill, too, just to help me lose a few right after she's born..." She wondered, but only whispered such things around Jae. He would make her set up times to be in the treadmill and stupid things like that...ew. "I'll let you know. But I think we should decide together. I was thinking yellow? My old furniture is white, so a cute pastel room would be adorable, but pink or lavender would be cute too." Ava said, her green eyes peeking up at him. "Don't worry about the rest of it, Aden got us the car seat, Noah got us the stroller. We already for high chairs and mobiles for her. We have a changing table and things, I think all we need is just little accessories." She assured him. Jae was always ready to go shopping, it was adorable. She grinned when he mentioned liking Maddison, it was her favorite name so far. Her little dark haired baby with big green eyes (which is how she imagined her), would be such a good Maddison "Of course we can nickname her Maddie. Do you have any middle names you like? Maybe something Korean for your culture?" She asked, wanting their daughter to embrace both sides, Irish and Korean.
How could she think such ugly things about her own body? Jae looked at her with annoyance, if he could, Jae would rewire her brain when it came to her own self-image. He tried not to get to riled up, listening as she went on to talk about he color of the nursery. Pastels, if that's what she thought was best, then that was what they would do. Jae didn't care much, it was the babies room, a mothers touch should be on it, not a fathers. "Whatever color you thinks best, I'll let the painters know within the week," The sooner they got it painted, the better. Jack had already warned him that the room would need to be aired out after painting, the fumes would be too strong for Ava or the baby otherwise. So it would need to be on a day that they were out and busy, so that there was time for the house to be open, letting it vent. "We have good connections, our little one is all set then, besides accessories, and things that aren't necessary, but that we'll buy anyway," Jae grinned, him and Ava in a baby store together was just looking for overboard. He would make sure that a second driver and car showed up after them to take the many bags that they were sure to purchase. "Hmmmm a middle name?" Jae was touched that she would ask, and offer to let him have a say so in the middle name. "What about Sarang? Maddison Sarang?" It was his mothers middle name, so he thought that it would be a nice touch to the name, of course if she said yes, then he would really have to consider naming their second child, because surely there would be one, after Jack.
Ava pursed her lips when Jae said she could pick the color scheme. That was sweet of him, but she wanted his help and input on things, especially the name and he nursery that their daughter would see everyday. "Jae," she said in a kind tone, cupping his face in her hands to convince him of her point "I didn't marry you so you could give me whatever I wanted. I want us to make decisions together, even if we have to argue about things. If you think pale yellow looks too much like pee to be a wall color, or if you think Maddison sounds too stuffy, you have to tell me, so we can figure out the best for our baby girl, instead of just what's in my head." She urged. "We're both hotheads, you must have something to say," Ava teased, tugging on his cheek playfully. "I think Sorang is a beautiful name for her, I would love it as a middle or even first name. What was your mothers full name?" She asked him. Ava knew that Jae had complicated feelings towards his mother, since he often felt that she left him too soon. But unlike Jack, Jae's mother had never caused the couple any harm, so they could do a combination of names for their first baby, to make it a more ceremonial name. "Maddison Sorang Kim sounds gorgeous. Our baby is going to be fabulous, babe." Ava grinned, the apples of her cheeks shining in the natural light of the room.
Jae looked at Ava with the same seriousness she was looking at him with, he shrugged, "I think yellow is okay. Though lavender or pink, pastel as you say, would be better," Jae cleared his throat, not comfortable with having a say in décor. Unless it was his study or the library, well he didn't care all that much about color schemes, it was important to Ava though, so he would do whatever it took to make her happy. She called them both hotheads and it made Jae want to laugh, they really were. Usually, but as the pregnancy went along, Jae had tried to keep things as mild as possible, worried about his wife, and childs, health. "Lo Sarang Cho is my mother's full name," Jae rose a brow, wondering why she wanted to know. She'd never really asked him about his mom, maybe because she could tell it was a sore subject for him, or she was being respectful and waiting for him to elaborate on her, either way he was thankful. "Of course she'll be fabulous, she's made by us, she'll be perfection," Jae grinned back, he kissed her cheek, his hand automatically going to her stomach to rub there, happy with their moment. The doorbell rang at that moment, Jae groaned, "Perfect timing," He muttered before raising his eyes to Ava, "I guess we should see if that's food or our stuff, eh?"
Ava smirked when Jae finally gave input on the nursery. She knew he didn't want to, but she didn't care. She needed opinions. "Lavender it is then. See? We make such a good team." She giggled, kissing his cheek sweetly, she could be nice when she wanted to be. For Ava, the moment was still very surreal. She and her husband were cuddling in the bed of their new home, talking about names for their child. If you'd told Ava when she moved to Paris all those years ago that she would be happy about it someday, she would've laughed aloud. Moving had been pure hell, and she'd been sure that her life was over. But then came Jae, and, well, Ava supposed the move to Paris was when her life really began, all thanks to him. "Lo?" She asked, a thoughtful look crossing her face. Ava bit down on her lip slightly in thought, but that's when the doorbell rang, and she sighed "Mmmm is it pizza or furniture?" She asked with a smile, letting Jae help her up and heading down stairs with her hand clasped in his. "I think we should name her after your mom. If you want. I mean I don't really know a lot about her, because you never talk about it," she rambled, worried that Jae would abhor the idea "but I think we could name her Lola or Loraine, so it's like your moms name..." She said, all before they even made it to the foyer.
Lavender would be a terrific color with her white nursery furniture, Jae completely approved on their decision. He kissed the palm of Ava's hand before helping her up out of bed, she looked to be slightly lost in thought as they made their way through the house and towards the stairs. She was talking about naming their daughter after his mom before they reached the foyer, he rose a brow. That was unexpected, but sweet, Jae drew her close, kissed her forehead, "What did I do in the past life to deserve you?" He murmured, "I think that would be excellent, Lola is gorgeous," He approved whole heartedly, Jae went hand in hand with her to the door and swung it open, there were actually a line of people there. "Whoa," He muttered in surprise, but his surprise quickly turned to something else, he became his bossy self and began barking orders of where people needed to go with things, including the pizza guy, telling him to go set up the food in the kitchen. "Come, we'll eat while they bring stuff in, we'll only be in the way for now," Jae tugged Ava away, and out of the doorway so everyone could begin their work. The couple made their way to the kitchen, at least they could eat the pizza at the bar while things were moved in, Jae had gotten a glimpse of their dining room table and chairs, so he knew that they'd be there in only minutes.
Jae seemed to like the idea of naming their little girl after his mother, and knowing it made him happy brought a smile to Ava's face. She angled her green eyes up at him when he kissed her forehead, giggling softly "You just got lucky." She told him in response, a tricky smirk pulling at her lips. Ava held onto his hand nice and tightly, her curled hair bouncing as she moved down the stairs with him. It was still odd to her, thinking that she was in their home. They were answering their front door for the first time, and Ava's eyes widened at seeing the line of people on their doorstep. Jae was directing people, so Ava did, too, and actually tried to follow a man carrying a very important antique, but Jae didn't let her, and dragged her into the kitchen so they could eat their dinner. "But Jae I want to make sure they don't break anything..." She whined, pouting as she sat down at the bar with her husband. He wasn't going to let her leave, though, so Ava grabbed a roll of paper towels and their pizza, heading to another set of French doors that would lead the couple to their patio. "I like it out here," she declared, making herself comfortable on the stone surface, her legs criss crossed. Ava placed the pizza box in front of them and handed Jae a napkin "Maybe we should put a little swing set out here for her. But then we might have bees. I'm allergic to bees, so will Lola be allergic, too? Are allergies hereditary?" She asked Jae, a slightly troubled look passing over her delicate features. Ava wouldn't be a happy woman if she made her baby vulnerable to the world, she would be quite angry with herself, even if she couldn't exactly control her own vulnerability to bee stings.
Poor Ava wanted to be right in the midst of things, bossing people around, and watching everyones every move, much like her mother. Jae chuckled silently to himself, he had to almost force her to the kitchen where the pizza was. But she soon grabbed the food and went to the patio, Jae grabbed a couple of waters before following her out to the patio, they sat comfortable and began getting their food. "I suppose she will, if you are, I'm sure there's a test the doctor can do to see if she is or not, that way we can take certain precautions. Also if you want a swing out there, then we can make that happen. We'll just make sure that we hire a bug and insect guy to spray, and inspect the house as well as the yard once every couple of months," Jae mentally made a note to call a guy he knew, he would set that up the next day. The breeze was perfect outside, making it pleasurable to be outside with Ava. "What else should we have out here? Some lawn furniture? Maybe a fountain or something?" Jae was thinking aloud, and wanted his wife's opinion. Jack had mentioned maybe making a rock path, he would have to ask his father-in-law if that was a project he'd like to do with the whole family or something, make it memorable.
Once Jae took a seat in the already existing patio furniture, Ava pursed her lips. They were in different chairs, but God she would much rather be next to him. Ava knew she wasn't exactly thin anymore, but she still wanted to sit with him, so she switched seats and crammed into Jae's chair with him. She took a bite of pizza, and it really did taste good, but she was more concerned with what Jae was talking about. "She will be? Okay we're gonna have to get her an Epi pen and make sure that she's got one wherever she goes, bees are everywhere, it's the worst allergy ever." She told him, worry in her eyes about Lola. What if she was stung when Ava wasn't even there? What if nether Jae or Ava could help her? What if some stupid teacher forgot to give her the Epi pen? "I'll have to call the doctor about that tomorrow morning, I don't want Lola to ever be without her Epi pen..." She said softly, leaning her head against Jae. "I think a swing set would be really cute out here. Maybe an outdoor fireplace for you and I? We could put a grate over the outside so she couldn't get in trouble. Oh and we can build her a treehouse when she's older." Ava gave Jae a goofy grin "Think you can handle building her one?" She teased. Jae would almost certainly hire someone to build it, while Ava checked for bees around every corner.
The food was warm, and a little greasy, but he didn't mind, it was this kind of food that made a person feel at home. He hadn't ever really liked pizza until he'd met Ava, she'd taken him to a few Italian places that served amazing pizza slices, and it had been history from there. Speaking of Ava, she moved to squish in beside him in the wide patio chair, Jae couldn't help the satisfied grin on his face as she did so. This was his wife, she loved him more than he deserved, and he would forever be grateful for that, and love her with all of his soul until the day he drew his last breath. "She'll be fine, we'll just have to watch her carefully, also we can get her one of those allergy bracelets so that people will be aware, in case something does happen when we're not around," He did the best he could to reassure his wife, he didn't want her stressing out over something that might happen. "A tree house might be a large task, but between Aden and I, I'm sure we can get it done, your Da too." Jae hoped that none of them ended up killing each other in the process, but if they did all live, well it would be a memory none of them would forget. "I can't wait to see her in her first tutu, dancing with her mommy," Jae's tone was soft, and he was looking at Ava tenderly as he spoke, noises, and voices were in the background as people moved stuff into their new home.
Jae was right, she really did just need to breathe a bit, so instead of thinking about bees, Ava tried to focus on what the tree house. She shrugged some "Well forget my dad, just you, Aden and I could build it. My dads not really one to build something anyway, he'd probably try to hire someone to build it for us..." She muttered. Ava adored her dad, and if she wanted to design a room or ask for advice on taxes, he would be the one to call. But a treehouse? Jack McCloud hadn't touched a hammer in his life, he wouldn't know what to do. Ava blushed a bright pink as soon as Jae started to talk about tutus and ballet. She knew that Jae was proud f what she did everyday, but she still had insecurities about her dance, even when she was the best in her company. Ava felt that a lot of their friends thought Ava didn't do a real job, and instead pranced around and looked pretty all day. "Well we can't force her to like dance. She's gotta want to do it herself, babe." She said, trying to be diplomatic. But if her baby girl loved ballet as much as she did, well, then she'd certainly be a lucky woman.
The thought of Jack with a hammer and nails, well it was almost laughable. Jae smirked, just another thing that Jae could rub in the old mans face when he finished the tree house. "No worries, Aden and I can get that done in no time, with some extravagances for our future princess," Jae let his hand settle on Ava's hip, she was talking about their daughter, and dance. Jae had a feeling that their little one was going to love dance just as much as her mama, and that made him quite happy. Jae truly wanted Ava to feel more confident about her profession, she worked her ass off, as well as suffered, for her work. He didn't think people realized that, he was the one that helped bind her bleeding toes now and again, he saw the bumps and bruises after practice, he saw the stress and anxiety that arose in her just before opening night. Jae squeezed Ava against him, "Like mommy like daughter, just wait and see."
Ava grinned, she loved the fact that her husband and twin got along so well. She didn't know what she'd do if they didn't. Aden had finally taken some initiative to work in their father's company, but all through his trials, Ava had been right by his side. Of course Persephone had, as well, but Aden kept her at a distance for a long time before allowing her back in. "I know, you two make a fantastic team. Plus I think you'd look sexy doing manual labor." Ava teased, a tricky smirk growing on her lips. "Sweaty muscles and all." She chirped, kissing Jae's cheek slowly. Ava didn't feel sexy as a pregnant woman, but that didn't mean she could tease and flirt with Jae all day long. He seemed convinced that Lola would love ballet, and while Ava hoped so, she couldn't make bets before the girl was even born. "Yeah? What if she's like you, and is passionate about math and politics?" Ava asked, her eyes shining as she picked on him. "Maybe instead of getting her pointe shoes as a kid, we can get her a really nice graphing calculator and some business cards." Ava was smirking at Jae, doing her best to get a rise out of him. It probably wouldn't be that hard to do.
He had to have the best wife in the world, Jae beamed some as she kissed him on the cheek. They fit like a puzzle, perfectly, he couldn't wait for the newest puzzle piece to come into play. Speaking of, Ava was teasing Jae, and he couldn't help rolling his eyes. "If you get her a graphing calculator I'm burning it," He muttered, his expression one of sulking, "She doesn't need to be like me, I'm not as fun as her mommy. Lola," Jae switched his attention to Ava's cute belly, "You need to be like your mother, do you understand? She's beautiful, smart, fun, and sassy, just be like her and you'll be fine. I'm dull, boring, and just a lot of aristocratic junk, you don't want to be like me," Jae patted Ava's tummy before kissing her cheek back and snuggling with her some. "Maybe if we have a son in the future he can be a mini me, but I think our daughter would be cuter in a tutu than with nerd glasses and a calculator in hand."
Ava watched Jae with a silly grin while he spoke to her stomach, but her expression changed when he called himself a slew of bad things. "Awwwww Jae you're not boring!!" She told him, lifting his head up to look at her "You're my best friend, so if you're saying that you're boring, you're basically insulting me." Ava pushing his face away from her tummy, and instead looked down "Lola, this is your mommy. I want you to be whoever you are, baby. Don't try to be like me, and don't try to be like daddy. Just be yourself, sweetheart, then you'll be perfect." She said sweetly, then looked over at Jae. "See? That's how you give a pep talk. And babe she would be so cute in nerd glasses, hush up." She scolded him, tapping his nose playfully. Ava was silent for a moment, but then looked over at him "Do you really think all those things about yourself babe?" She asked him, worry in her voice.
His wife was always one to encourage him, to see the light in those around her, hardly ever the dark, unless it was her father of course. Jae had always been fascinated in her ability to do so, her view of the world and of the people in it differed so much from his own. She was going to be a wonderful mother, just as she was an amazing wife and friend. The way she talked to their soon-to-be daughter, it made the young man fall all the more in love with her. Suddenly her attention was on him once more, he cleared his throat as her eyes looked into his. "No, of course not. I'm Jae, I never doubt myself, I'm the best," He joked, tryingto lighten the mood. "Don't worry about me Jagi(term of endearment in Korean), I have enough self-confidence to last four life times," Jae snuggled his face into her neck, inhaling her own, unique scent as he did so. The noises from inside disappearing as he concentrated solely on her, the one that had changed him, and his life forever.
Jae was insisting that he didn't think such things when it came to himself, but Ava wasn't exactly convinced. Her husband had always seemed cocky, but after knowing him for so many years, Ava knew that more often than not, he confidence was a facade, put on just to get him through the day. Jae had a lot of problems with himself, not that they ever talked about them. He'd rather pretend everything was fine, and Ava would help him along in his delusion, just to keep him happy. Ava smiled at him, her eyes glimmering as she looked at him "Good. Because I think you're the best." She claimed, her hand reaching up to stroke along the soft skin of his neck. There were times, lots of times, when Jae made Ava wish for privacy. But most of their moments were like that one, tender and sweet. Jae had his face snuggled into her neck, and Ava just wanted to lay down and cuddle with him, maybe watch a movie or kiss him some. "Hey, hey," she muttered, tugging on his shirt until he looked up at her "I love you more than anything under the sun." She said, laying a gentle kiss on his lips. Where would she be without him? Stuck in her father's shadow, unhappy and wishing for creativity and love in her life... Jae was her everything.
The movers used the week to move in Jae and Ava's things, the couple settled into the house, and that weekend relaxed, just enjoying one another. Ava was close to having the baby, but they weren't sure of when. So that Monday morning Jae got up early, and took his shower, then dressed for work. Ava was still asleep in their bed when he came out of the walk-in closet, adjusting his tie. "How did I get so damn lucky?" He muttered to himself, her hair was spread out on the pillow, like a fan almost, her lips barely parted, and her cheeks had a hint of pink to them. Jae debated on not waking her at all, but he knew that she would only be upset with him if he left without saying goodbye. So he slipped on his suit jacket, went to her side of the bed, leaned down, and kissed her cheek sweetly. "Irish," He murmured in her ear, his lips barely brushing against her skin. "Irish I'm leaving," He said just a bit louder, hoping to see her smile before he left.
The baby would be there soon. Ava could tell, if only by the dreams she was having the past few days. They were a mixture of good and bad. Some nights, she dreamed that she went into labor when she was all alone, she dreamed that she hurt her baby. But other nights, dream-Jae rushed her to he hospital with plenty of time to go. It all made her nervous, and thankfully, that morning, Ava was dreamless. She wasn't stressed about the baby, just relaxing, sleeping wonderfully in her new home with her favorite man. She was roused from her sleep when Jae kissed her cheek, and her eyes open softly to her only nickname. She smiled sleepily up at him, her eyes fluttering between open and closed. "Alright," she yawned out, pulling him closer for a sweet kiss "Promise you'll call me at lunch? Or very few hours? Or at least text?" She asked, badgered, really. She was nervous, but wanted Jae to go to work, just in case nothing happened.
"Call you? I'll bring it to you Irish," Jae looked down at her lovingly, she was the only girl for him. He didn't plan on her doing anything she didn't have to, he'd pick her up some food from her favorite bistro, and have lunch with her. "Take it easy today, don't do anything that'll make you feel stressed out. Call Anne or something," Jae tugged the covers up over her shoulders, tucking her in. "I'll be back this afternoon to check on you, love you. I'll keep my ringer on, in case you need anything," Jae kissed her one last time before waving and walking out of their room, a smile on his face as he left the house and got into his car. He got the engine going, and pulled out of their driveway, he was going to be thinking of Ava and the baby all day, he hated leaving her in that condition, he wished he could just stay home with her.
Ava nodded, feeling more secure just in knowing that he would be back for lunch. That was midday, so if she went into labor early, he would be home for her, and if she did in the afternoon, he would be back shortly. It felt like it would all work out. He wanted her to call Anne, but all Ava really wanted to do was tidy up the nursery, so she'd probably just do that and watch some movies, maybe bake a cake for Jae or something out of boredom. "I will. Have a good day, Jae. I love you." She said, turning under the covers to watch him as he walked away. "I'll miss you..." She said softly, hoping he wouldn't hear her. A hand went to her stomach, rubbing it lightly and with an absent mind. As soon as she had the baby, Jae would get some time for maternity leave, too, even though he wasn't the mother, he was still allowed some time off of work, since his boss was the child's grandfather. They would get to spend time as a family, a three person family, and Ava couldn't be more excited for that.
Jae headed into work, his mind not on his job at all. He zombie walked, practically, into his office and sat down, just staring off into space. His secretary, a male one for the benefit of his marriage, walked in, he had a pile of paperwork and set it down in front of Jae. "This needs to all be approved Sunbae," He told Jae, he was also Korean so it made Jae's life a bit easier. The two communicated well, and had a lot of the same family background. He glanced down at the pile, he forced himself out of his stupor. He had work to be done, he couldn't be dawdling all day just because he didn't want to be there. Jae dove into his work, requesting coffee from his secretary, he would need it for the day.
After a good half an hour? Ava finally decided to get out of bed. She took a shower first, and pulled on a maternity dress and some comfy shoes, and swung her hair up into a ponytail. She called her twin and said good morning to him, giving him updates on how she was feeling and such. Aden promised to pass on her words to their father once he was at work, so Ava didn't have to call him, too. Once she was downstairs she ate some fruit for breakfast and took her vitamins (since Jae would force feed them to her if she didn't), and with her morning routine finished, became very bored. She had more discomfort that usual in her pelvis that morning, which worried her. But Jae had told her to relax, so that's what she did. She went upstairs again, this time into the vast nursery she and Jae had ready for Lola. The room was a pretty shade of lavender, and Jae had even gotten someone to paint a flowering tree over the crib. Ava got herself busy, arranging stuffed toys and placing pictures in frames on the walls.
(Nursery is perf)
Jae got through a lot of his stuff within an hour, but he decided to take a break. He leaned back in his office chair and stretched his arms high above his head, letting out a sigh as he did. His secretary entered with his phone in hand, looking down at it, then looked up at Jae. "You have a few things on today's schedule, including a meeting this afternoon with Mr. McCloud," Well it looked like he would have a full day after all. "I can't do anything at lunch, I'm spending that with my wife, no matter what's on your calendar," Jae stated, not even coming close to budging on the matter. HE would spend his lunch hour with his wife, work wouldn't come before her, no matter what.

It had only taken Ava about an hour to organize the babies room, and after that she started to get bored again. She wandered into the kitchen and turned on the oven, getting ingredients from the cabinet to make a chocolate cake. Why? Because she wanted chocolate cake, and her chocolate cake was superior to that of any bakery. She was mixing ingredients when Ava started to feel a stabbing, throbbing pain in her pelvis, and she doubled over from it, letting out a yell. It felt exactly how the doctor explained contractions, so Ava bit down on her lip through the pain and picked up her phone off of the table. She sat down on the tiled floor, one hand petting her swollen stomach, while another pain raked through her body. Ava felt tears prick her eyes-- why did this have to hurt so badly? She dialed Jae's number quickly, her heart beating faster every second.
Jae was in the middle of putting together a binder full of examples for his father-in-law when his phone started ringing. He answered it, it was Noah, his best friend. He wanted to know if Jae and Ava would like to get together with him and his wife, Jae sat on the phone for a while, discussing dinner plans and how Ava was doing. By the time they hung up it was twenty minutes later and Jae was scrambling to get ready for an interview with someone, that's when his phone rang once more. Though this time it wasn't Noah, it was Ava, he answered the phone sweetly, "Hey Irish, how are you feeling?" HIs tone light, and loving.
Waiting for Jae to pick up felt like years, but Ava knew he'd answered on the second or third ring. He sounded sweet, which would've been nice any other time, but not then. "Jae, come get me. It's happening, right now." She said, her breathing heavy. She felt a wetness in her thighs and felt another pain, flinching at it and trying not to scream. She didn't want to scare Jae, but she needed him as fast as he could get there. "The baby's coming and my water just broke and Jae it hurts. Please come get me Jae I really need you now." She told him, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her back was up against the cabinets of their kitchen, her head tilted forward and her arms cradling her stomach. "Please don't hang up stay on the phone..." Ava was saying, when another contraction made her stop and let out a cry.
Normally Jae would hear a calm, loving, Ava, maybe she would laugh at his teasing, or come back with her own sarcastic remark, but not this time. No, Jae was quite struck by fear at the sound of tears in her voice, and the panicked tone she gave. Jae stood up right away, shouldering the phone as he grabbed his keys and things. "I'm on my way love, don't worry," He told her in a calm voice, he began running, making his way down stairs, then to the parking garage as he talked to her, trying to keep her from feeling overwhelmed. "I'll be there in minutes, just breathe, breathe Ava, its all going to be okay," Jae did his best not to pay attention to the racing of his own heart, or thing thoughts that were piling up in his mind of everything that could go wrong. The car was started and he was soon pulling into traffic, going as fast as the car, and traffic, would allow him. It only took ten minutes for him to get home, "Babe I'm outside," He told her, running towards the front door, "Your bag is in my trunk, I put it there this morning so-" He hung up as he came face-to-face with her, Jae didn't hesitate in picking her up in his arms, no care for the wetness. Jae carried her to his vehicle and put her in the passenger seat, after laying the seat back some, Jae buckled her, and then ran to the drivers side, he jumped in and went as quickly, and as safely, as possible towards the hospital.
