This is the place where group newbies can ask questions about maneuvering successfully through goodreads and veterans can share their knowledge.

So my question is how can I add book or author links when I try to respond on group notifications while on my mobile device (kindle fire). I can comment but not link. The options are much broader on my computer. I find this limiting and frustrating. Do I have the wrong goodreads app downloaded?
Good thread. I've been on Goodreads for years, but never really used it much until now. Now I'm using it almost 100% just to keep my ebook collection straight, as Calibre is letting me down on that score. Goodreads is working, however.
This is the only group I'm a member of because I'm using Goodreads purely as a reader, and SFR and SF are my reading pleasure.
But if authors are getting mileage out of Goodreads, I'd be interested to hear how.
Cheers,
t.
Celestine, I guess you can't add book or author links via the app, but you can with the mobile version of the site, if that helps.
Goodreads won't allow me to login on mobile app. I don't know if this is because I have a goodreads app downloaded or if it is because I limit privacy settings on my browser.
Anyone know the intricacies of adding a book to a List? I read a book, thought it fit a List I like. The List said anyone could add a book. I clicked Add and it came up asking for the book and had a Vote button. I voted and the book hasn't appeared in the List? Help :)
I am curious about how people in my favorite groups are accessing reviews by goodreads friends. Do you look at the updates feed or a daily/weekly digest email or by chance when you are looking up reviews of books you are interested in reading? I ask this because the revised appearance of the digest emails is driving me batty and i may unsubscribe. Unfortunately, the updates feed on my kindle tends to be glitchy, so that is not a great option either.
Honestly I rarely read reviews unless I’m bored, lol. Well, I do on some blogs but not on GR or Amazon.
I am the opposite. Going to a bunch of blogs seems time consuming and a lot of bloggers cross post on goodreads. I am all about quick stop shopping. Lol.
I am thinking of starting a new thread in this group just for links to reviews to avoid the disaster of the goodreads digest email revision of Oct. 2018. What do you think? Another group I belong to does this by posting the book cover link, saying a sentence or two about a general impression ("It was awful." "Loved it!" "Series book three." "Boring cover but great inside"...etc.), and then providing a link to his/her individual review page. The review is NOT in the thread itself. What do you all think of starting a thread like this? Here is an example:
. Move over cyborgs, these enhanced humans have processors in their brains, and limbs, and eyes.....My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I think it would also do a good job of keeping book discussions and criticism off the "What SFR are you reading right now?" thread. I love the bare bones nature of that thread, which keeps me informed of what is new, what folks are reading, what seems popular, etc.
