I'm coming to the end of this chapter, and it's gone from damn near unreadababbly opacity to downright aljawbreakable hilarity. Campbell's parsing of the thematic elements going on is astounding- esp. concerning ALP's diagramitazation, around which appears to circle many of the Wake's main concerns- the brotherly opposition, birth-death-regeneration, circles overlapping, the vaginal/birth symbolism entwined with river imagery, intermixed with another recounting of HCE's fall. Not to mention we the readers are given, in Issy's footnotes, the entire Doodle family symbology! What a treat! So, the chapter that started out frustrating me the most has morphed into one of the most fascinating, complex, significant sections yet! Keep on, Wake brothers and sisters, all is rewarded...
Just diving into this section. Looks like there is a lot of interesting structural work taking place here. I would be interested to hear thoughts from the group on what I am reading here? who else is reading it with me (Shem, Shaun, Issy)? how many others are there? and which ones are writing? and what? and where on the page? and when? and when in relation to all the others?
