Has KGI Gone Soft?

I sort of slightly agree with you. I thought the same thing after finishing up After the Storm. Yet After the Storm in particular wasn't my favorite of the KGI series. I believe it is still worth the read, hopefully the next one will have a little more bad-assness we have all fallen in love with when it came to KGI novels.
I recommended this book because I thought it was sweet, yeah there wasn't as much kick ass in it but I felt it was worth reading. I personally like Nathan's story best but can't wait to read the next one.
I know! Nathan and Shea's story, Whispers in the Dark, was my first paranormal book and initially I was not excited to read it. Boy...I could not put it down! It was my favorite book in this series.
I don't think KGI has gone soft, I just think Maya Banks has lost her edge. Maybe too many series going on at one time.
I don't think KGI has gone soft or that Maya has lost her edge, I do think that Van needed a book that was more cerebral and emotional as that is who Van is. We will see what direction she takes us with Swanny's book, which is next, due out in June (I think)
I agree Monique. Just finished after the storm and I can honestly say, NOT impressed. I have the first five books on audio and I have listened to each of them more than once.... really enjoyed them. I actually read this one as the audio price was wayyyyyy tooooo high. Thank goodness I didn't give into my want to have the whole series in audio.
I found myself putting this book down way more often than I normally do when reading a good book that keeps me drawn in.
I will give the next on a shot, if it turns out to be as mushy and non-KGI fashion, I will abort my mission and move on.
Does any one have other series suggestions similar in nature?
July is a long way off.....
Jamie, if you've not already read anything by Lori Foster, I would recommend you give her books a shot. She has several that are connected and you can find out about all of them on her website www.lorifoster.com.
Specifically, the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, and Love Undercover series are alpha-male driven, but with strong heroines.
Also, anything by Suzanne Brockmann, especially her Troubleshooters series. Great characters and lots of action.
Enjoy!
Or Julie Ann Walker's Black Knights. An excellent series with a similar theme.Or Lynn Raye Harris' Hostile Operations Team
Both have that military suspense black opps vibe

Thanks Marie, I have read some Lori Foster but not those you suggested... All caught up on troubleshooters, loved them all.
Thanks for the suggestions.!

Shauni,
Thank you! I will look those up as well and add them to my To-Read List... Much Appreciated!

Try Shannon McKenna's McLoud's and Friends series. They are very kick ass and there is also a paranormal element to the stories. They are also very hot with lots of action. I think Ms. McKenna did a better job of sustaining her characters qualities as they pair up then Maya Banks has. Although I still remain a big fan of Maya Banks and all her series.
Jamie, Angelique is correct; you should try the McCloud Series if you're looking for action, romance and a bit of paranormal.

They were good, a little light on the suspense but I will finish those up too.
I really appreciate the responses and recommendations, it nice not to have to navigate thru all the book possibilities out there and end up disappointed.
Thanks again!

Marie if you are big on suspense check out Cynthia Eden's Mine series, conveniently enough Mine to Take, the first in the series is free on Amazon right now.
Shauni, I've read "Mine to Take" and have the rest of the "Mine" series on my ever-growing "to read" list! I really enjoyed the first one and am looking forward to when I can get to the rest of them.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Are we reading the same books? LOL um, no. If you need harder there is always the Nightstalkers by M.L. Buchman.
'After the Storm' was rather mild compared to the other KIG books. I am hopping 'when the day breaks' is fun as the other books.

I loved the first five books of the KGI series, the last two?not so much. Something is lacking, maybe the characters are diluted somehow, the stories too predictable the emotions rather bland, I only read 'after the storm' once, nothing unique enough to make me read it again. I think its time to let that series die, I'll still check out other Maya books, but KGI isn't my favorite any more.

It seems that as each member gets married, they are not really going on missions anymore and their bad-assness is gone. Has the KGI series gone soft? If so, is it still worth the time/money investment in continuing to read the series?
