Class of 2015 discussion

“Left alone, human beings are a plague. They multiply relentlessly, consuming every resource, destroying everything they touch.” The science fiction novel Pretties, by Scott Westerfeld, is about a futuristic society where the citizens have to go through a surgery, required my the law,in which they will become pretty. However, the society's physical beauty becomes a danger to the society's freedom and humanity. I personally thought this book was very interesting because it give a very good description of how a futuristic world can turn out, and it's also very suspenseful. I recommend this book to people of the ages 12 and up. I would compare this book to The Hunger Games because they are both futuristic, and both societies mistreat the lower classes. Other books written by Scott Westerfeld are Uglies, Specials, and Extras.
