What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

A teenage boy is kidnapped and taken out to sea by the kidnappers as they wait for the ransom. There are four kidnappers who call themselves John, Paul, George and Ringo.

At some point in the kidnapping they put the boy in a small crate, to smuggle him through somewhere, which he finds really traumatic - once he has been returned home he is asked to re-enact getting in the crate on I think a tv show or something, and possibly has a panic attack.

He helps find the kidnappers because he recognises the smell of one of the bandages they used to cover his eyes as horse liniment, and they find one of the kidnappers at some sort of horsey event, maybe a race.

He gets a job at I think some stables (maybe a farm) to help him get over what has happened.
