I made a list once of books that are not depressing and even have laughs, in response to the feeling of "Book Group Blues" where every book seems to be about oppression, the Holocaust or dysfunctional families. Some I remember areA Confederacy of Dunces (not everyone likes it but I thought the audio was hysterical)
Spencer Quinn's detective series narrated by Chet the Dog, starting with Dog On It
The Riyria series by Michael J Sullivan, starting with Theft of Swords (fantasy)
To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis (time travel/historical)
Agent to the Stars, The Android's Dream or Redshirts by John Scalzi (sci-fi wonderfully read by Wil Wheaton)
The Thursday Next series starting with The Eyre Affair
Th Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters, read by Barbara Rosenblat, starting with Crocodile on the Sandbank (historical mystery)
Bridget Jones's Diary and Confessions of a Shopaholic and sequels (chick-lit)
The Pickwick Papers - a classic that is still funny
Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton - reads like a classic but all the characters are dragons!
The Rosie Project
The Queen and I (a bit dated now that the royal family has changed but again Barbara Rosenblat is outstanding)
Tales of the City series
I assume the comedians would be too obvious of an answer...I have laughed at Alan Bradley's Flavia de Luce mysteries. The first one especially. I love the character's streak of mischief you plays out on her sister.
Whenever I feel I need to have a (comforting) laugh, I return to Gerald Durrell and listen to his (too short!) narration of 5 of his Corfu memoires https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Lost for Words literary humor :-)Phoenix Rising I smiled/giggled quite a few times listening to it
Critical Failures - but probably mostly for people who have played table roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons :-)
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal - irreverent religious humorSwim the Fly - male adolescent humor

To add to the Christopher Moore suggestions, I'd chime in with A Dirty Job, which was by far my favorite of his books. I have some more, I'm sure, but I will have to chime in later.
Yesterday I had a lot of unheard podcasts to listen to (falling behind). And I started with a GQT (Gardener's Question Time). It occured to me that these podcasts Always have me laugh out loud. I guess the neighbours must think I'm crazy, as I sometimes work around the garden alone, suddenly laughing loudly. I can really use these to brighten up "rainy" days.
Holy Cow: A Modern-Day Dairy Tale by David Duchovny is a fun coming of age story told by the cow who travels the world.
Where'd You Go, BernadetteCrazy Rich Asians
The sequel China Rich Girlfriend
Anything by Laurie Notaro
I second or third (can't keep track) of the Christopher Moore book recommendations.
Oh, and I love The Spellman Files series by Lisa Lutz.
The Charlie Davidson series starting with First Grave on the Right tickled my funny bone. I chuckled my way through the whole series.
Sorry - I don't have any audiobook recommendations but 3 comedy podcasts which I LOVE are below. I strongly suggest checking them out & sometimes, they do make my sides split
- The Dead Author's Podcast (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/t...)
- Put Your Hands Together (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/p...)
- improv4humans (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i...)
Earlier this year I read Where the Hell is Tesla? by Rob Dircks. It made me laugh, chuckle and grin all the way through it.

Do u need to have an apple device to download pod casts?
I am very interested in this thread because I am always on the lookout for a funny/light book and can never seem to find them. There have only been a handful over the last ten years or so. Some have already been mentioned:Me Talk Pretty One Day
The Rosie Project
The Devil in the Junior League
The Ex-Debutante
Stardust
And, that's about it I think. I read the paper versions of Beautiful Ruins and Where'd You Go Bernadette, and they might both qualify.

Hi Margo - No, you do not need to have an apple device to listen to podcasts. You can listen it on your Android device or on the browser as well. Some popular podcast apps for android are:
1) Stitcher (Free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...
2) TuneIn Radio (Free):https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...
3) Pocket Casts (Paid): https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...
Good luck & let me know if you need any help with podcast recommendations. Would be more than happy to make some suggestions!

Rohan, installed Stitch and just listened to my very first pod cast - Dead Authors: H.G. Wells meet Albert Camus. So funny. Thankyou :):)
After a couple of people mentioned Podcast Addict I downloaded it to my android tablet and am liking it so far.

I am reading Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things and found myself laughing so much in the car I almost pulled over.

I'm not picking on you or your sense of humor but I didn't find it at all funny and so many of my friends did I'm starting to think something is wrong with me.
Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern - ***Warning: there is a lot of cursing in this but it is the funniest audiobook I have listen to and the only one that hasn't put my boyfriend to sleep.
Rachel wrote: "Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern - ***Warning: there is a lot of cursing in this but it is the funniest audiobook I have listen to and the only one that hasn't put my boyfriend to sleep."Samuel L. Jackson as narrator was just epic. :) The sequel, You Have to Fucking Eat, narrated by Bryan Cranston, is also hilarious and perfect.
A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail narrated by the author Bill Bryson makes me laugh. The Falco series by Lindsey Davis (the first is The Silver Pigs) is also amusing.
I enjoy the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, especially the early ones -- the formula doesn't survive so many books, for me.
Jennifer Crusie is unfailingly funny. I love Welcome to Temptation and Bet Me, and Charlie All Night in particular.
Here's one for cat loves Games You Can Play With Your Pussy: And Lots of Other Stuff Cat Owners Should KnowI kid you not!!!

Happy to oblige Julie! Cracked me up when I came across it :-D
I never knew mrs. Slocombe wrote a book about her cat. I wonder if it was for sale at Grace Brothers.
I really, really love funny books. Here are some I have enjoyed across genres:Three Men in a Boat
Off to Be the Wizard, Spell or High Water, and An Unwelcome Quest
Ready Player One
John Dies at the End and This Book Is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don't Touch It
Cold Comfort Farm
Candide
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court
I also second A Confederacy of Dunces, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal, The Rosie Project, and Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
I'm a fan of the British character Alan Partridge, as portrayed by Steve Coogan. Definitely acquired though as I'm sure there are folks who seriously loathe him.
