Arietta had hurried to Aurelia's after the library incident. All she wanted to do was curl up on the couch with her best friend and just not be burried by leadership, if only for a few moments. The black was completely gone from her hair, as were all the emotions from her heart. She had to push Devon out, keep him away. They were very different and she had always known this. He was emotional, she was cold, he was council, she was the leader of the whole damn Resistance. She made her way up the stairs two at a time until she was in front of Aurelia's door, which she quickly wrapped upon--three quick short knocks followed by two long ones, their signature knock, then waited patiently for her beautiful friend to open the door. Arietta loved Aurelia in all sense of the word. She was the closest thing the redhead had to family after the passing of her father, and she would sacrifice herself to make sure the other woman lived. Aurelia was Arietta's confidant, and she knew she could trust her with all things.
Aurelia was reading a book on her sofa, not exactly bothered with anything for a change. She was almost dozing off on her sofa before the signal sounded on the door. A bit startled and alarmed, she managed to get up, trying to stand up straight. Okay, now a few steps more...finally, through the haze of exhaustion, and some struggles to unlock the door, she finally swung it open, managing a weak smile.
Arietta's smile widened as the door opened, but it was a sad, weak smile. But she also noticed the slowness in her friend and instantly her brow furrowed. "Hey, are you ok?" she asked, instant worry dripping from her voice, her own troubles being pushed aside to take care of her friend. "Can I come in?" she asked as well, letting her shoulders droop, "its been a hell of a day." thinking back, she remembered to respond to Aston quickly, sending him a text about scheudling a meeting for 5 pm that evening.
"Can you come in? Of course you could." She laughed a bit before opening the door wide, and heading straight again for the sofa, curling up and wrapping the blanket around herself. "Jeez, Arietta, you look as exhausted as I am." She noted, observing her; though she was concerned, Aurelia always knew when to be quiet and when not. Arietta looked disturbed and that disturbed her; she was not a person to look so bothered. Or upset. "Did something happen?"
Arietta smiled with relief and entered the apartment, finding a spot on the couch next to her best friend, pulling her legs up to her chest. "Devon happened," she said after a moment of silence, sighing a shaky sigh. "I was at the library, I didn't want anyone else to have to make that risk, trying out a badge in such a high risk area....But I never expected him to be there." Of course Arietta had told her friend about the boy before, back when there was actually a chance. And when she had to disappear from his life, she'd come to Aurelia.
"Devon happened?" She frowned a bit, leaning back. "As in, what do you mean? Did he find you your alias? Is he trouble?" She asked it quietly but a bit fiercely too. When it came to loved ones, Aurelia was very overprotective, so right now there was different scenarios running through her mind.
"Yea, he showed up there..." She replied, playing with the ends of her hair, "Of course, he didn't recognize me dressed like this, with my hair all black and it was fine. I used him to help me get into the upper levels and that was going to be the end of it...Until Aston sent me a text about the blown operation and I had to get out of there." She let out a groan, leaning her head against the back of the couch and shutting her eyes. "Did you get that, by the way? The entire attack tonight was foiled, there was a spy. Ebony took care of him in time to figure out we would've been ambushed and they contacted people."
"Oh." To be honest, even though she kept this secret to herself, she wasn't as loyal to the resistance as many were. She was there just because of the fact that her sister and mother's disappearance was probably connected to the council, and she would rather be against them. "So guessing that's bad news?"
"Yea it was awful...he figured out who I was. I mean, not that I'm..leading the Resistance or anything. Just that I'm a part of it. Arietta sighed, "And he definitely was not pleased. But I shouldn't really be surprised..he's been groomed to be a council member for God knows how long." She hid her face in her hands for a moment, breathing deeply. "But anyways. How was your day? Are you doing alright?" She cared deeply for her friend, and one of her main concerns was that she was doing ok. Arietta would not hesitate to destroy anyone who made Aurelia's life more difficult.
((Eek!! I'm so sorry :3))
"I'm fine, really." She plastered a smile. "I've just been working a lot lately and I haven't got a chance to rest." She fiddled with the blanket. "You know, you seem to care about his...opinion very much." It wasn't a statement, more like a question. Aurelia has seen a lot of sides of Arietta but never the one who cared for strangers. Something had definitely changed and all Aurelia cared about at the moment was to find out if the change was for the bad or for the good.
