Book Report: The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
The Scorch Trials, written by James Dashner, it’s a fiction and in the young adult genre which is my age group. I love this book because it’s different from any book I have ever read. This book is filled with lots of different conflicts which make the story more interesting. Just when you think you have the story figured out and you know how the book is going to end the author switches up on you giving you another mystery to solve.

When the book opens, solving the maze was supposed to be the end no more puzzles, no more variables, and no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the gladers would get their lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to. After surviving horrific conditions in the maze Thomas is entrapped along with nineteen other boys and 1 girl in a scientific experiment designed to observe their responses and gather data believed to be essential for the survival of human race.

The Gladers are far done from running. Instead of freedom they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the scorch, the most burned out section. Burned by brutal climates making the earth a wasteland and infected with people with a dangerous disease called the flare. They roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim and a meal. They must arrive at a safe haven in two weeks, and WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them. Thomas can only wonder does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind. Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?

The Scorch Trials is the sequel to The Maze Runner. This book was written in 2010 by author James Dashner. He was born and raised in Georgia, but now lives and writes in the Rocky Mountains. He’s also the author of The 13th reality, The Journal Of Curious Letters, The Hunt For Dark Infinity, The Blade Of Shattered Hope. I can’t say that this book is better than book one, The Maze Runner because they both have good plots and something about them that makes you want to read more and continue on to the next book in the series trying to figure out the books mysteries getting closer to end of the series.

Matthew | 3 comments I haven't read the book, to this or The Maze Runner, but I'd like to. This sounds a little different than the movie, but still sounds like a good read.
