I'd like to nominate an older book, Thomas the Rhymer by Ellen Kushner.

I nominate My favorite epic fantasy standalone, To Ride Hell’s Chasm. Adventure, diversity and culture clash (one of the main characters is dark skinned) intrigue, well rounded characters, gorgeous prose and deep worldbuilding all in a neat package.

I'd like to nominate Mélusine by Sarah Monette, because I never really see many talking about her.

I'm going to nominate The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin. It's brilliant, well written, and a lot of fun to read. I think everyone should be reading this book.

@Kiran No BOTM yet. Seems your seconding of black prism came after Matthew (message 7) and Dana (message 13) so I guess hell's chasm should be in the seconded nominations already.
