Dee (austhokie) | 1380 comments Xe Sands is a well-loved member of the group, so it only seems right that her thread is one of the first posted ;)

Dee (austhokie) | 1380 comments i'll kick it off...how did you discover Xe's work? was there a certain book you remember listening to where she was the narrator?

message 4: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Well, of course I first heard her on FIRE AND ICE and thought she made the book better than it was (I liked the book but it had been a bitch to write - Xe's performance brought me out of the negative feelings I'd had about it and made me enjoy it),

message 5: by Frances (new)

Frances | 33 comments Yes, Fire and Ice. Xe was also one of the performers in Diane Chamberlain's The Midwife's Confession. I think Xe has a very sexy and raspy "male voice" and I liked her delivery of several Kate Perry Laurel Height series books and Anne Stuart's House of Russell series. I always enjoy books she narrates.

Mara Pemberton (marapem) Another excellent narrator.

Kelly (kellyvioletke) | 317 comments I loved Xe's performance on Fire and Ice, but I thought she was even better in On Thin Ice.

message 8: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments I agree. On Thin Ice is my absolute favorite -- I was absolutely crazy for Finn, which was ... er ... a little weird. Lusting after a woman's voice. But man, it works!

message 9: by Lee (new)

Lee | 484 comments Xe is one of the few narrators who will inspire me to try a new-to-me author, just because I so enjoy her voice and story telling.

Harry_ATL | 40 comments Xe's performance of Adrian in Never Kiss a Rake lives in my "relisten pile". Very sexy Irish accent and I completely forget she's a woman when performing his lines

message 11: by Mara (new)

Mara Pemberton (marapem) I love Xe Sands! She's up there with Susan Eriksen, Kate Reading, Barbara Rosenblat, and Rosalind Landor.

message 12: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 334 comments Xe Sands is one of my all time favorite narrators. I found her when listening to Jecquelyn Frank's Nightwalkers series. I was hooked from the first minute I started listening.

Dawn | 535 comments If you are looking for a great XE performance, I highly recommend The Vanishing by Wendy Webb. I bought it as a daily deal about this time last year, I think. Great book, great narration and perfect for Halloween.

message 14: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1116 comments Xe Sands, does such wonderful works. She's been fortunate to be connected to so many great series. She does contemporary as well as historical which I don't find a lot of artists can pull off well. Can't go wrong with Xe.

Okay, let's say all the bad things we have to say about Xe!

...

Hmm.

Anyone? Anything?

... if I can think of a criticism, I'll let you know! :P

yeah...I can't think of anything bad either...it starts hurting if I even imagine something... :P

message 19: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Nothing bad to say, baby (except you said you can't do Scottish accents). I hate it when I don't get you as a narrator, though in fact I've been incredibly lucky. But nobody does it better.

*mwah* I'm still trying to make some inroads there...maybe we'll be back together again someday soon :)

You are absolutely adorable.

Becky | 170 comments I'm going to join the love-fest for your work, Xe. I first discovered you when I listed to Kristan Higgins' "Catch of the Day". I loved the story but you really brought all the characters to life. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with a hero that barely spoke. (That takes a talented narrator.) This is still one of my all-time favorite audiobooks and one I've listened to several time. I readily admit I was beyond bummed when you didn't narrate Kristan's Blue Heron series, but am so glad you were one of the narrators for "If You Only Knew" and can't wait to listen to "Fools Rush In".

I discovered author Candis Terry because of your narrating talent and, from the feedback above, it looks like I need to check out Anne Stuart's work as well.

As for the bad? ......Yeah, I got nothin'

Thanks so much, Becky! I truly appreciate ypur kind words. And I've been so blessed to work on some of Kristan Higgins' work - hope you enjoy Fools Rush In. I'm just about to start on Too Good to Be True tomorrow :)
