Anna Wassenaar | 54 comments Has anyone read the new followup to Steig Larson's 'The Girl Who' trilogy? What did you think, is Lagercrantz meeting/exceeding Steig Larson?

Joyce | 31 comments I liked it. Not as violent, I think, and possibly more internal--more brooding for both Lisbeth and Blomqvist. I felt that there was more character development. It's a bridge story in some ways, moving from the first trilogy into another group of titles. More baddies introduced to play a bigger role in later titles. I'll certainly pick up the next one.

Anna Wassenaar | 54 comments I might like this more too, will check it out.

Kimaya Mathew | 8 comments I don't think anyone will ever come up to the level of Larson, but the fourth book, definitely has some internal thoughts of the character... I am in the mid... let us see how it goes...

Donna Bailey | 98 comments I can't wait to hear your thoughts Kimaya. I read "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" did not care for it at all because of the violence and skin deep characters. If Lagercrantz gets a second vote of approval I may just jump in with him!

Well thank you Donna! but yes, as compared to Larson, there is much more deep thoughts in this one.

How should I state this?

Yes, I am still reading it, but already I can see the internal thoughts of the character taking precedence over the actions...cannnot decide for the time being whether that is a good thing or a bed thing...

As I said previously, let us see how the story goes. But yes, I do like the previous three books, especially "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

Kimaya Mathew | 8 comments Hello..

Finally I finished reading it.

Anna Wassenaar | 54 comments And? Is it a tossup for you?

Donna Bailey | 98 comments Kimaya, Thumbs up or down! I have four books that I am engaged with now "All the Light We Cannot See", Witches, The Explorer's Guild and "Italian for Beginners". I will add to my list if you recommend! Thanks!

Kimaya Mathew | 8 comments It is definitely thumbs up...you will enjoy reading the character building especially of our lovely Lisbeth...

All the lights we cannot see was an OK read for me...I rated it three stars because it is actually centered around world war and all the deep barbarism which is always related to war was shown in such scenes which were heart rendering....

Donna Bailey | 98 comments I agree with you on "All The Light We Cannot See". I was slow to warm up to it. But then became involved but the ending left me very flat. 3 stars at best. I started "Witches" but pitched after 3 chapters, found it boring and redundant. Going for mental floss right now with" Italian for Beginners"

Kimaya Mathew | 8 comments I am busy getting introduce to the society of Cranford by Mrs. Gaskell

Donna Bailey | 98 comments That sounds like a good one. It is going on my to read list.

Kimaya Mathew | 8 comments Umm...I thought so about Cranford in the beginning that it is going to be good but now!!

I am not so sure..

I have completed 60% of it and still it appears as if the exaggeration of the narrator will never stop...

I just want to complete it ASAP!!

Donna Bailey | 98 comments hahaha! You have longer staying power than I. I very rarely do not finish a book but if it is still pestering me at 60% I move on.....there are so many books to read:)

Kimaya Mathew | 8 comments I make sure that I complete every book that I have started...
It's insulting for the book and the author...if you leave the book in the middle...
Being an author myself...I am aware of all the hard work and thinking which an authoress and an author put in his or her work.

Donna Bailey | 98 comments Please, I don't mean to offend. It is a very very rare occurrence for me. Maybe less than 10 in almost 55 years of reading.

Kimaya Mathew | 8 comments No, I am not offended. But I see so many reviews of books from people who did not even finished a particular book and left it in the middle...
Or who hate it because their friend or others hate it , too.
Or who say that the eng of the text was not proper but they themselves are lacking correct articles, punctuation and grammar for the sentence...
Or worse, they will suddenly attack the nationality of the author saying that the particular writer is hailing from English as a second language country!!
I am just saying that some people don't do proper justice and do not really indulge with the text.
Yes, there are many other good books to read but each needs to be given its own due respect.
