Jen Garrett | 100 comments My 8yro told me to dig up one of my old MG about a girl with a villainous superpower. She read it again, and told me to polish it up and submit.
Why am I so scared to look at it?

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 195 comments Because you know your writing will have improved, and are worried about it making you feel bad. That's my opinion, anyway.

I'd take her advice, but consider it an early draft of a book, so plan on needing to go through it tweaking, improving, and editing, at least a couple of times.

Jen Garrett | 100 comments Yes, you're probably right. I'm worried if I read it then I'll be committed to working on it. And it's gonna be a lot of work.

So I've asked my CPs to help.

J.L. | 18 comments You've got the best CP already saying to work on it. :-) An eight-year-old at home pushing a book is about the best you can get.

I would say to go for it! Yes, you might be disappointed about how that work compares to your latest, but you already have the bones of the manuscript and just finish it up.
It my be scary to take on a project like that, and you might be dreading the work ahead. However, that is just what us writers do. We take on projects we assume we can't handle and torture ourselves into producing a finished project. But, then we reep the rewards of our work :)

Jen Garrett | 100 comments Thanks. I needed the peptalk. I'll take the gulp and read. :)

Good for you Jen! The first step to getting it right is accepting that you had it wrong :)
