Holly | 140 comments I know that most people have already read the whole A Song of Ice and Fire series, but I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that I'll find someone to read it with.

I'm about midway through A Game of Thrones.

Anyone care to join me????

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I can't right now Holly. Have too much to catch up on. I'm sure someone will join. Thanks for posting.

message 10: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) Talk to me wen you get to book 5. Haha. :)

message 11: by Holly (new)

Holly | 140 comments Lol, that's not happening for awhile!!!!!!! :D

message 12: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I read them all one after the other in a run and felt a bit mindblown at the end of book five. I think the first is the best one though. Holly do you mean the 'sky dungeon'

message 13: by Holly (new)

Holly | 140 comments Yes!

message 14: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) I read the first four that way. Then I took a break and took on number five.

message 15: by Holly (new)

Holly | 140 comments I think I'm just going to read them all back to back. They've been on my TBR shelf long enough!

message 16: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments That dungeon was wild, lol can you imagine being put in something like that:) the thing now though is I picture it how they did it in the show. That's one thing they got spot on I thought. But I liked Tyrion both in the book and in the show.

Angie | 623 comments Where are you up to in Game of thrones Holly? Are you near the end yet? I loved Aryahs 'dance' lessons. I can still imagine her chasing cat and practising her balancing stances. Brilliant writing, it made the book seem almost lighthearted in between all the serious stuff.

message 18: by Holly (new)

Holly | 140 comments I'm almost done. It's getting very nerve racking. Wouldn't have it any other way!

Hi Angie, Holly - I read the first book in the series and watched all 3 seasons! I just love the TV show (unfortunatelly watched it first)...but I loved the book as well.

I'm a little put of by the size of them.

I have though all 5 books, if anyone needs them, I can mail them to you. If I want to join you here, I'd like to know where you all got to? As this is an epic journey to read :)

Hmm...can'tfind them with the search button, but I do have them on mykindle...well I guess I would have to copy them back on the laptop in case somene needs them, that's no big problem.

message 21: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I read the books back to back just before the TV show started and so thought the books were so much better! But they were always going to be really, there's no way a TV show could get all the info from the book to the screen. I still enjoyed watching it though. They got joffrey down perfectly didn't they!!

They did indeed...and isn't his mom (forgot her name, the queen, Jamie's sister, in the book she has dark hair if I remember correctly). I read in the comments that the 3rd and 4th book were dragging on...what do you say Angie? I just read the first one...I'm as well sorry I didn't know about it before the TV show because then I had all the actors faces in my head when I read that book...maybe that's why I hesitate a bit to continue reading and the length of the books. I never had a problem with long books but if they get boring then I do...but I love to finish a series...but is the book 5 the last one or is there supposed to come out book 6 as well or did I hear wrong?
I do like the show though very much...I think Tyrion is my favorite character. And I was shocked by the ending old season 3 with that horrible death at the wedding....can't imagine the series going on without those characters...Jamie changed a lot till the end...I wonder if he will behave the same after all that's happened to him...actually I started to like him a bit.

message 23: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments They changed a lot on the show but there was no way to fit everything from the books in. It was good to of read the book so I had a more indepth view of all the characters and places in the world. The books did drag Natasha, but book 5 kind of picked back up. It introduced so new places and people so that in itself made it more exciting. But the first book is by far the best one.

But I'll always try and read before watching but sometimes that just isn't possible. In both the book and the TV show Tyrion is a favourite along with I thing a favourite of most people John Snow. Arya was another, she was so good in the first book. Those dancing lessons of hers served her live more than one:O)

message 24: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) Angie, quite frankly, if they did try to replicate the book on the TV show, I wouldn't watch. Some parts of the books just dragged.

message 25: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments That's more than true Daniel, the books did drag. HOLLY I'm going to put in a spoiler as you haven't read the other books!! (view spoiler)

message 27: by Angie (new)
