Why did morpheus wait for 70 years before trying the "I'm dead!" trick?

Alonso Perhaps I missed some detail, but I don't understand why Morpheus waited so long.

Tiredstars Morpheus' imprisonment was on two levels: physical and magical. The circle drawn in the ground around him is a sort of magical cell. There's a panel where his captor's wheelchair skims the edge of the circle and breaks it. If you didn't catch the importance of the circle it would be easy to overlook the significance.
That's the opportunity Morpheus needs to escape.

Alonso Ah .. I see I see. Yeah. I missed that little detail. Thanks Mate.

Suge I managed to miss that detail too. Interesting.

Gwilym Wogan Me too! I've read the book about seven billion times and somehow only just noticed this on my last read-through. Pretty funny seeing this post afterwards.

I blame the artists, really; a lot of the visual storytelling is a bit muddled and unclear throughout the whole thing. The atmosphere is utterly unmatched, though. Definitely the most dream-like.

Scott I don't know how anyone could have missed it.

Gwilym Wogan The book shows several potential ways: old age, bitterness, nudity, choc ice.

For me it was Paul and Alex's bittersweet dialogue that always took my attention, and if I hadn't been consciously poring over every inch of every panel of art this last time, I'll bet that would've happened again.

Rushing? Lack of interest? Shallow reading? Babies crying all over the place?

Erick I'd like to add another reason for Morpheus' inability to escape his imprisonment is the weakened state he is in. He arrived on Earth this way at the beginning. Its a story in and of itself called Sandman: Overture. The artwork alone is worth the price. I'm thoroughly enjoying the read. Overture connects directly to this first volume.

Nicole *TheRoseAndTheStar* Hey Erick quiestion for you. I dowload 2 volumes and they are very short. Are the real ones like that too?

Hmm, I'm not sure what you have. With Sandman: Overture, each issue is about 24 pages in length. Both in print and digital formats. So that's why they are short. The story is not available in a collect volume yet. I hope that you were not ripped off.

Nicole *TheRoseAndTheStar* Mmm the ones I have, had 16 and 17 pages u.u
