Almost finished The name of the wind... Now I'm sad that there are so few books available from Patrick Rothfuss.

It makes me wish that we could figure out a way to live longer... because then... I'd just plan WAY ahead... assume that each book will take between 4-6 years to write (similar to other rather good and popular fantasy authors) - and time it...
Have you read the short stories and the novella? I just reread them all because I'm a loser like that. LMAO
They're pretty hard to find now, but you could look up "The Adventures of the Princess and Mr. Whiffle." There's two in the series. And they are picture books (amazing illustrations by Nate Taylor) but not written for the faint of heart. Like Rothfuss in all his other works, he pushes regular conventions to their limit, creating his own unique style. The Thing Beneath the Bed The Dark of Deep Below

I enjoyed the story, it was definitely and interesting insight to a strange character. I have always enjoyed Auri's way of thinking so I feel like it made sense enough to me. It wasn't super weird like Old Holly.
Very cool. I'm hoping he decides to write more novellas. I'd enjoy one about Bast, but he has his own short story, "The Lightening Tree." Pat might branch out and surprise us with one, but I doubt it--Slow Regard started out as a short story and expanded into what it is, a turn that "The Lightening Tree" didn't take.
Yah, he started writing Slow Regard to put in Rogues, but it got too long and took on a new life, so he had to write something else for that Anthology, hence why we got The Lightening Tree. I don't know if he will keep writing Novellas about characters in Kvothe's life or not, though I'd enjoy something based on Elodin.
I know he has another story too that isn't in print, not sure when that's going to come out but you can youtube a reading of it, it's called The Tale of Laniel Young-Again. I would really like it to come to print, but I think he's waiting to publish it until after DOS because hella people bitched about him publishing ANYTHING besides book 3

Lol, yea. Everyone's mad that he is working on other things besides the third, long-awaited installment. I have heard of the Tale of Laniel Young-Again, but I haven't had the chance to work my way through it. I'll have to check it out sometime this week.I would also love to see something about Elodin. If we did get a novella about him though, some of his mysteriousness and charisma might be ruined. It is the lack of information about him that makes him so likable, at least for me. I would be interested in seeing something from the perspective of Denna. In the same vein as Elodin, there's quite a bit of mystery surrounding her, but Pat's audience is already so invested into her that it wouldn't matter if all her secrets are revealed, which I doubt Pat will provide in DOS. I have to remind myself that these stories come from Kvothe's perspective and anything he doesn't know about the world won't come through in the novels. I would love to see a spin-off in the first-person POV of Kvothe's beloved.
