Would anyone be interested in buddy reading Les Mis? Leave a comment below if you are. You're also more than welcome to join partway through the buddy read!

Great! When do you want to start?

message 4: by Ethan (new)

Ethan Lewis | 25 comments I just ordered a copy, and the tracking number says it should be here within 2-3 business days (so hopefully Wednesday at the latest!). If you want to start sooner, I'm sure I can find a free ebook version since it's under public domain. But it's up to you - I don't care when we start!

Do you want to start on Wednesday then? That way at least you'll have the physical book.

message 6: by Anna (new)

Anna Conners | 16 comments Is it too late for me to join?

Nope - people can join at any point, even after we've started reading!

I'll join this has been on my TBR for a while and I think reading it with others would be good

Haha it's been on my TBR for awhile as well. Are you ok with starting on Wednesday?

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure I should be done with a book here today and then I'll just add it to my CR list.

message 11: by Anjali (new)

Anjali (quietlyloud) | 1 comments I'd love to join too! I'm supposed to be 'Currently reading' Les Mis and I'm yet to start it,lol. It's been on my TBR list for a long time and when I got my copy last month,it's length overwhelmed me.I don't think I've read a book that big.So it would be really nice to have a company lest I get daunted by its size again!

I think we can all agree that the size in and of itself is in the frightening size! I'll definitely have a better chance of getting through it if I'm reading it as a buddy read - the guilt, at the very least, will get me through it :)

message 13: by Ethan (new)

Ethan Lewis | 25 comments Just got the book! How are we going to do the buddy read - are we going to read set chapters each day/week, or are we all just going to read at our own pace and discuss as we go along?

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

My copy has an introduction to it that I am going to read today just to get some background information on the author Victor Hugo and the story itself.

Mine also has an introduction, which I read last night, and then about 10 pages of the actual book. I think maybe we should all read at our own pace and discuss as we go along? Maybe we could specify what book and what chapter we're in when we're posting?

How's everyone doing? I haven't gottten particularly far yet, by my Thanksgiving break starts on Monday, so I should have plenty of time to make a fairly significant dent in the book.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm on fall break this week as well, so I should be able to get some good amount of reading done this week. Then I only have only one week left of school until the fall semester is over and I will have tons of time for reading!

message 18: by Ethan (new)

Ethan Lewis | 25 comments Yikes literally completely forgot about this!!! I had to put the book down because of school but I definitely wanna pick it back up. You guys finish??

message 19: by Olivia (new)

Olivia McCloskey (brewingupbooks) | 2470 comments Mod
Gosh me too. Nope I'm not done, I'm still at about 30%. I'd be willing to continue the buddy read with you

message 20: by Anna (new)

Anna Conners | 16 comments Yikes I gave up at about 15% because life got to hectic. I'd be up to giving it another go though!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm with the rest of you I had to put the book down for a while, but am willing to pick it back up. I plan on reading 10 classic books this summer. Les Miserables should count I would think?

message 22: by Olivia (new)

Olivia McCloskey (brewingupbooks) | 2470 comments Mod
Definitely!

Are we thinking of restarting entirely, or trying to pick up where we left off (it sounds like none of us got too far into it)?

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I plan on just starting at the beginning
