What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

The book I'm looking for was read between 1999-2005. I vaguely remember that it was about a girl that goes to visit her aunt for the summer, I believe she is upset because she would have preferred to go to summer camp. She spends time with her boy cousins that are trying to teach her how to have fun and they teach her how to get on and off a moving train. At some point, the youngest brother (who was always prohibited from doing the train thing with them because he was too young) goes and does it on his own and dies while jumping off the train (maybe he got hit by the train, but I think it had something to do with the way he jumped). The youngest brother that died, his name MAY have been Abu (but I could be making that detail up). It WAS adapted to a movie, which I also saw, but can't remember many details from either the book or movie.
