Nick | 11 comments Well back in the late 90s or early 2000s I got a hold of a comic book of my stepdads. I can't remember if it was a comic book by itself of maybe a bunch of different comics in the same book or if it was a short in a magazine
Anyway, it was set in a post apocalyptic world where gasoline was the currency. The people lived in a ruined city and had a hedonistic lifestyle. The people were always scantily dressed and the main character had to come into the city to deal with the leader after doing jobs (scavenging maybe?)
I wish I could remember more but thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Nick, I moved your request to the "Unsolved" folder because you're looking for a specific book. Good luck with your search!

Gasoline by Dame Darcy started to look promising, but it was published in 2008.

"At the height of a society governed by corporate greed and corruption, a fiery apocalypse rains down. Among the few survivors are the Armbusters, a family of orphaned witches. Establishing a utopian commune, they uphold their position of power through the maintenance of their car, the only remaining working automobile. The Armbusters' search for precious gasoline pits them against the conniving nihilists who lurk in the decaying urban sprawl, and they learn to adopt new, alternative means of survival to which they had been blind while caught up in a life of materialism."

Adele | 1448 comments This comic series collected in a book: Cobalt-60 by Vaughn Bodé

has been published in a lot of different formats including individual comics and magazines during the 1980s with the last installment in Heavy Metal Overdrive in 1995, as described on this Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt_...

Peter Meilinger | 469 comments I have a vague recollection of a black and white comic from roughly that time period. It was an anthology, I think, with several stories. The one I'm thinking of was about two characters named Blood and Guts or maybe Blud and Gutz, something like that. One was a large young black man, the other was an older white man. They both had hot young girlfriends, and they basically traveled around having adventures. I don't remember if gasoline was currency, but it was definitely valuable.

Any of that ring a bell?

If you're looking for a different book from the OP, please start a fresh thread.

Peter Meilinger | 469 comments I'm not particularly looking for it, I just thought it might be the same comic and wanted to add some more detail if so.

Nick | 11 comments Yeah, Peter, that does sound vaguely familiar. Thanks, I have some googling to do.

Peter Meilinger | 469 comments I've been noodling around looking for the title of the comic, to no avail. I have found a few people looking for the comic I recall, but no answers.

Actually, after typing that paragraph I've found the comic I was looking for. It was called "Savage Tales" and it was published by Marvel in 1985. It was a black and white magazine-sized comic, similar to "Savage Sword Of Conan."

Goodreads doesn't seem to have a page for it, at least not easily accessible via the "add book/author" pop-up, but here's a link to a page that has covers and tables of contents:

https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TI...

That's definitely what I was remembering, but is it what you were looking for?
