This section is for interviews similar in nature to the ask me anything discussions that have become popular on the reddit website.

I've selected a group of authors who are members of this group and will begin working to make suitable arrangements which do not conflict with busy schedules.

(I haven't decided whether to kick things off when this year is coming to a close or to start at 2016 when many of the people on the list have new books coming out. I'll let you know when I come to a decision.)

Purpose of these interviews?

> To get to know some of the writers who are members of this group better.

> To find out more about their work and discuss it, plots, main characters and other details like those.

> To talk shop. Challenges of writing/publishing. Writing routine and maybe some of the technical details like tropes and conventions.

> Those are just for starters, it is after all an "ask me anything discussion thread", so please, get creative with your questions and don't be shy.

Maybe I'll do a trial run. One or two this year and the rest for the next.

I would like to be a part of this.

I guess we have our first two people for a trial run of this section of the group. Jack and Joshua.

On a unrelated note, it's a ghastly day. A night in Paris turns into a nightmare for hundreds of people who tragically will never see another dawn ever again.

One can only hope, perhaps in vain, that this will be the wakeup call for the politicians. We're in the second decade in the war on terror. Are we going to leave the next generation, having failed to solve the most important geopolitical issue facing the Western world? If so, may God have mercy on all our souls.

Sorry. Needed to vent there. Reading the reports of the incident is just simply horrifying stuff. Another Mumbai scenario. To paraphrase something the great Vince Flynn once said, the terrorists have found out they don't need to work their fingers to the bone in acquiring fancy WMDS to commit mass murder. Explosives and automatic weapons in the right soft target can do just as significant damage on a limited budget.

On a brighter note, that Jihadi John fellow will most likely no longer be sinking his knife into hostages. A small silver lining but a silver lining nonetheless. Now if only we could start turning the bigger fish into ashes, that would be something.

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 7 comments I'm with you, Samuel! Watching this coverage is just horrible. A month before Christmas, all these families dealing with tragedy. There's more going on in this world than this isolated incident but it's still a horrible day in Paris.

This "isolated incident" is part of a very relevant broader issue that has been incredibly detrimental to global stability.
It is a problem that has managed to grown like a cancer and needs to be solved before it is too late.

Thank you. Yes, it is a sad day. It's sad that so many have to die to make a point. Evil cannot be pacified only eliminated.

Anyway, enough of this unpleasantness. I hope those who did not make it out alive find peace in the next life, and that whoever did this gets what they deserve eventually.

So here is the order. The gap between the first two and the other three is about the "trial run". I'll finalize the dates later.

1) JH
2) JJ

3) RC
4) SE
5) JTP

Amen to that. Evil triumphs when nothing is done. And I pray that the politicos finally realize that spending the time and resources in taking a more direct approach to knock off Daesh is a price worth paying.

Tested out the "broadcast" function on this group to see whether it could be used as a suitable way of notifying group members of the interviews. First time I've used it so if it doesn't work, I guess I'll have to do things the old fashioned way and leave comments and links on the pages.

First, an apology to all of you for my shameful tardiness. A community project putting up Christmas decorations at a Children's hospital, conducting a scorched earth policy against the weeds in my garden and planning/packing for a holiday in the Philippines distracted me from getting this thing going. But better late than never. I have unlocked Joshua's AMA interview thread so you call all start posting questions. He'll join us after 1-2 days, by then there will be enough questions to start a vibrant discussion.

Back from lunch. Hmm. Broadcast message takes a while to work. May have to do things manually if worst comes to worst.

message 25: by Samuel , Director (new)

Samuel | 4692 comments Mod
Okay. Done which scientists call "shotgunning" and manually posted the interview link into comments section. We'll see if that makes things pick up.

And have now tried to used the "event" function. More efficient than the broadcast message button I hope.

Well the one good thing is that I now know the most efficient way to make an announcement is through the events button. Give it one or two more days.

Well. That was very fun. Will need to experiment with the "event function" and a few others factors in the future like scheduling and dates.

Jack (jackjuly) | 145 comments I lurk and learn. My Novels are not straight up spy thrillers but more the story of a girl, now a woman and her family. She just happens to be a covert operative that is called upon to protect and avenge children. In the first novel, Amy Lynn, my goal was to show people where these operatives came from. It's starts when she's twelve and ends while she is in the process of being recruited to the CIA.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that I am pleased to announce that two weeks ago, a premier, successful literary agent has contacted me, just um, out of the blue. He read my first book, Amy Lynn. Just like many of my fans, my protagonist and her adventures captivated him. After serious vetting of this individual, his organization and his contract offer, (Holy Crap, he’s the real deal), I will sign a contract, early next week. He will begin the process of marketing Amy Lynn to Hollywood for Motion pictures and TV. My books will remain under my control, for now, as a self-published author with no middle person publisher. Hell, they didn’t want me anyway. Thanks again for all of your great information and help.

It's a long shot, but I'm in the door that most want to enter. I'm still a little in shock to be honest. Thank God for a good attorney and a highly educated wife wholly unimpressed with most everything. She said, "Yeah, you're good at everything you do, why not this?"

Indeed. When there's an opportunity to be taken, grasp it, and don't let go. You, deserve this stroke of luck very much.
