Not much to do when your mother is 'working' Angel Carmichael thought to herself as she walked around Times Square. Angel didn't mind it though her mother still never told her who her father was. She shrugged. Not that she didn't care anymore, as long as she could stay with her mother everything was just cool by her.

"Yeah right whatever," she muttered.

Angel continued walking along, thoughtfully doing nothing, though truth be told she was sort of people watching or maybe even sightseeing. She'd done it before though having lived there for the past ten years. She pretty much knew her way around and not just there, everywhere even the most terrible places she could get around once glancing around for a bit. It's a gift she knew and a cute smile appeared at her lips making her even more gorgeous than normal.

Mayrose was walking by well she was building hopping. She notice the new girl she recognised a new girl.She got to a safe dropable level the JTed down in from of the girl. Mayrose had her bow as always.

Angel's thoughts had been so total she didn't even notice the girl suddenly landing...what landing, her thoughts veered off. And in nearly doing so would have walked smack dab into her, but she stopped only inches away.

Regained her balance and the like, Angel stared from the girl to where she'd jumped. Her eyes going wide as she stared with blue eyes on her.

"How...?" she asked in a shout.

Not a good thing, this she knew and jumping from so high up was quite dangerous. In more ways than one. Did she really jump that far down?

Did I jump from that hight."She said."I used my bow and kinda in a way scaled backwards down the building."She said."I'm Mayrose."She said with a smile. She was amazed that she was surprised that the girl was surprised

Angel would keep glancing upward, her mouth wide open in surprise. Then she would look back at the other girl still shocked. It became a sort of a nod up and to Mayrose and back many times. Then her gaze settled on her when she'd spoken her name.

"Mayrose huh? Interesting name," Angel said. Then realize Mayrose seemed to be waiting for something and Angel's eyes crossed before lighting up.

"I'm um.. Angel, Angel Carmichael. And what brings you here before me?" She asked, her voice curious and all.

"You. well looked new and interesting."She said.

A brow rose at that. Now what did she mean by that? Angel thought to herself, her gaze on Mayrose as if to say please explain - well that's what she would have liked to say, instead she merely shrugged, "So, why jump before me? Was I in your way or something? If so, didn't mean to."

".no you weren't in my way. uh I was building hopping looking at people."She said.

The brow stayed up. Building hopping, looking at people, now how was that possible? Angel wondered glancing still at Mayrose. "Hmm, do that often? Doesn't sound fun in my opinion," she said. "So, looking at people, what for?"

"Yes 'She said."I love it. My dad sees better from a distance so do I."She said.

A sort of pang went through Angel's face at the mention of the word dad. Once again she wished she knew her father but her mother wouldn't tell. Maybe he was some kind of bad man wanted for a crime and her mother didn't want Angel to associate with him? But no, that couldn't be it because whenever Angel looked at her mother there seemed a look to her features as if remembering fond memories of him. And Angel knew, her mother still loved him, whoever he was.

"Your dad huh? Must be nice knowing such," Angel said wistfully, her blue eyes on Mayrose.

"Oh I'm sorry"She said realizing that angel didn't know her dad. "Are you at shield?.

Angel was confused at that. "What's a shield?" she asked quietly. She didn't really know then from Adam since she's never had anything that might cause them to want someone like her to be with them. Not that they didn't know about her and even they did she couldn't go anyway because of her mother. "Never heard of them much, to tell the truth. Only rumors and stuff. Besides, I'm not like them. Not at all."

"It's an organization you should come t would be fun."She said.

"Why?" Angel asked in her soft singsong voice. "I'm just a person. besides, I'm too busy for fun."

She smiled." I wish it was that fun. no I just love to have fun. Plus I'm trying to figure something out."She said not mentioning here dead boyfriend.

"Oh, okay then." Angel said something about the girl seemed strange almost sad maybe, but Angel wasn't sure what. Besides, she wasn't a mind reader, right? "I'm sure there's something out there fun for you. Me, I've got a dream I need to fulfill and joining this Shield is so not one of them. Also, there's my mom." she said on a shrug. Her light blue eyes settled on Mayrose with that intent sort of look. "What about you? You have a dream? One that's fun?"

got to go to bed post moaning.

((night)

She was zoned out. She was thinking if jason."Hmm oh ah I don't know. I guess I never thought of that."Sh said. she was still sad.

Angel, usually considerate felt the sadness. In a way that she knew not such seemed to be coming from outside her own body. Her gaze went to Mayrose, an understanding look in her gaze. "You all right? You seem kind of sad, I think?" Angel inquired softly.

She wanted to comfort this girl for some reason but didn't know how. Hesitantly, she reached out to the girl to lay or even try and lay a gentle hand on her shoulder, but paused and let her hand drop.

She merely contented herself with watching Mayrose, waiting to see what she would do next.

"Hmmm."She said."Oh yeah I'm uh I'm fine."She said

Angel blinked, still staring. The feeling of sadness (a form of pain, I might add) still wrapping about Angel almost like a vise causing her to nod. She still couldn't understand this though, but when in Rome... "You sure? If you want I can help you...somehow. Maybe see to it that you get home safely, if possible." For some reason Angel wanted to help this girl. She wanted to see the sadness or pain lift from her. How, she had no idea why this was happening to her now of all times.

"Yeah I'm uh I'm fine."She lied. She couldn't stop thinking about Jason.

Now from where Angel came from she knew a lie when she heard it. Because of where she lived with her mother who's job was...

A brow rose. "You sure? If you need help I'm here for you." she said. The feeling of sadness seemed to fill Angel and it may or may not have shown itself in Angel's light blue eyes, but there was true sincerity in her voice. "You seem...um...sad, I think." A deep breath and then Angel continued. "You lose someone recently? A parent or sibling or something? If so, it's not good to let it eat at you, you know."

Mayrose's bow was shaking in her hand.She didn't even noticed. She sat on the ground leaning on the wall and started crying.She hated when she cried.She always felt week and defenceless.

The move was, to say the least unexpected to Angel. Then with a quick sort of movement she gathered the crying girl in her arms and allowed her to cry, saying nothing more, just being there for Mayrose until she cried herself out and would be able to compose herself.

"He died a few weeks ago. I couldn't save him."She said still crying. "I wasn't even wake I was unconscious in a storage closet when it happened.I couldn't save him!"

Angel listened to her story, feeling sad herself. She couldn't really understand...no wait maybe that's wrong, maybe she could understand but in a different way of her feeling.

But Angel said nothing, merely wanting her to let it all out so that healing could come about, though in a roundabout way, Angel was healing her as well.

She continued to hold the girl, her grasp revealing she was there for her.

"I so pathetic I couldnt even save the one person i loved the most."She said still crying.

Angel truly felt for this girl. There was so much pain and sadness in her that even Angel could feel it as an almost tangible force. And in her concern, something started happening.

Both Angel and the girl began to glow - for Angel's healing began to manifest itself in turn to Angel's desire to heal this girl of her pain though the sadness would remain until she could 'forgive' herself the pain would dissipate.

Angel kept her arms about the girl allowing the healing its free rein. Every so often, Angel would murmur to Mayrose, in helping with the healing.

"I thought About it."She said."I thought about doing it."She said."Doing it and being with him."

"That's not a good thing. What would he have said if you'd done that for him?" Angel's voice was soft almost swirling about the head and the mind though she continued to comfort. And heal. "I don't think he would have wanted that for you, hmm?"

"I almpst did it I almost did it. I cut my wrist. "Sh showed her her wrist."I couldn't do.more then that."

Angel was unsure about that, but she placed a hand on where that wound could be merely a feather light touch. "And your thoughts after you did it?" she paused simply, gently with no trace of pity or anything merely curiosity.

"It hurts.I just want him!"She said.

She stopped crying.

Angel could well understand that. After sixteen years, and here she would admit it in her thoughts, wanting to know who her father was did hurt, but enough of that. She had to heal this pain, this turmoil in this girl or she may do something more that would actually kill her. "I know it hurts, but if he was in your shoes and you died leaving him, would he have done the same?"

Feeling the end of the crying, Angel glanced at her. A smile appeared in spite the fading light from her. "You feel better? A bit?"

"A little. He would have tried to move on but I can't no one was as close as him. I knew him since I was 6 he was 7.No one can be him."She said.

"there is that," Angel admitted. "But I think there are ways of overcoming such. Human beings are quite diverse, don't you agree. And I know he too would agree." Her glance on Mayrose became even more kind. "Though you've known him a long time, I believe he would say, if he was still around, that you should find others of like mind and get to know them. Remember him with more fondness and love and have more thoughts on how he would do things."

Angel was unsure if her words helped at least a little bit, but she didn't want Mayrose to give up on life. Tragedy was a hard mistress most of the time, as she well through experiencing others. "Of course no one can be him, but there are others who can help, if you want that. And wouldn't that be a wonderful way to remember him, in fondness not destrctive?"

"yeah your probably right" Mayrose said.

The smile appeared at Angel's lips at that. "See, you're feeling better, right?"

Angel would then move slightly away but not before writing something on a small sheet of paper and handing to Mayrose. On the paper is her phone number and she passes it to her, "If you need another to talk to, this is my number. I don't mind."

She took it."ok thanks."

"Not a problem," Angel said with a smile for the girl. Then she stood, helping Mayrose to her feet. "Are you okay now?" She looked at the watch on her wrist noting the time. "If you are okay, I have to go. My mom would be done with 'work'. Of which I would have to prepare her meal." And the smile grew broader and a bit sweeter.
