Emily Ann | 78 comments Winter wraps around like a blanket
…Tighter…. Tighter…..
Tighter until your breath, shivering into existence
Reverberates back into your face
And condenses into rolling tears that drip…
…Drip…
Drip into a salted sea rough and wild

Winter wraps around like a child's arms
So Tight….too warm
Her arms, her demands for love
Drifting up around you until
You are covered
You go willingly into the dark

Winter wraps around like the bed sheets
Tight… loose…crumple
and form
Winkles that slide like Tectonic plates
one Under the other Until….crack
Sweaty fingers grip
And curl into shields to hide
From nightmares

Winter wraps around like the noose
Rough and so loose
….loose…loose…. tight
The ground beneath you drops
You fly…for a moment
…so tight…

Winter wraps around like a mother
You long for tighter …Closer
Murmured wrongs and hot chocolate tears
So close too close
To the fire
Until without your bones creaking warnings
…..singe….

Winter wraps around like smoke
Drifting swirling
Warm finger tips wrap cups
Wavering heat hovers
Your front...burning
Your back...numb
Grip tighter
Shift

Drift
Like so much snow
….Catch
..slow.
.Fall..
Muffle...
