message 1: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna Hi everyone, I just wanted to welcome everyone to the book club. I would like everyone to put their suggestions under this thread so we can have a poll to start this month's book. Right now I'm reading Red Rising which is a dystopian novel. I'm already more than half way in. I hope you will all feel welcomed and be able to find good books to discuss.

Ernesto Vela | 3 comments I have just started reading Endgame:The Calling. I don't get why a lot of people don't like it. It is actually a very good book so far. It is a dystopian novel also.

message 3: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna Endgame is a series correct?

message 4: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Pendleton (sharon94) | 5 comments I'm currently reading the first book of a trilogy, the first book is called 'half bad'

message 5: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna What would y'all like to read for the book club?

message 6: by Cilla (new)

Cilla 2f (troublesavage) | 23 comments Well I guess here on goodreads (as long as people update their reading status) we can get a pretty good idea of our tastes and what we have already read etc. I'm really open to reading anything ya fiction etc. I like discovering new books.

message 7: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna How about Carry On by Rainbow Rowell I've heard great reviews although I don't know much about it. just a suggestion, we can put it to a vote if we have multiple suggestions?

message 8: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna Or Six of Crows? Also Court of Thorns and Roses? Suggest away people

message 9: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Pendleton (sharon94) | 5 comments I haven't read carry on by Rainbow Rowell, I'd be up for reading that one :-) or the other two, open to all suggestions.

message 10: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna Do we not have a picky person in our group lol

AngelaBIsReading (angelabisreading) Six of Crows looks interesting - do you have to have read the other books by that author to understand this one? Is it a part of a series?

AngelaBIsReading (angelabisreading) Carry On also sounds promising...I would be happy with either choice!

message 13: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna Six of Crows is the first in the series and I do believe the only part out at this time. I can either set up a book poll for those books and you all can vote or we can decide on this thread

AngelaBIsReading (angelabisreading) I think a book poll where everyone can vote is a good idea!

message 15: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna The poll is up, I encourage you all to read a summary or synopsis to each book before deciding on what you'd like to read. Or you can just go in blind, whatever make you happy lol. If there is a tie between two or all 3 I will either roll a die or flip a coin and that will be my vote at the very end. Each month we can choose a different person to be the tie breaker to keep the voting fair since there are 7 of us including myself and this month there are 3 options. lol

message 16: by Ernesto (new)

Ernesto Vela | 3 comments Endgame is a series and there are two books so far. Endgame and Sky Key. I blindly voted for Carry On to try something new other than sci-fi.

message 17: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna I guess you get to be surprised lol! Although I don't really know what it's about either. But right now the poll is tied, 2 more votes is what we're waiting on.

message 18: by Ernesto (new)

Ernesto Vela | 3 comments I hope I picked wisely.

message 19: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna I have no idea I've never read either one and haven't read the synopsis

message 20: by Cilla (new)

Cilla 2f (troublesavage) | 23 comments Six of crows looks really interesting :) but I cast my vote for carry on because it looks like it would give me a laugh :)

message 21: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna I'll end up reading both eventually but whatever is chosen will be read first lol

message 22: by Cilla (new)

Cilla 2f (troublesavage) | 23 comments Yeah I'm good with any of them really, I'me excited about branching out

message 23: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna The book poll is done! Carry On wins! Do we want a full month to finish it? Do we want to do a chat room type setting once we all finish it or just have discussions on here.

message 24: by Cilla (new)

Cilla 2f (troublesavage) | 23 comments i guess we should update as we go and discuss once we all finish. a month is a long time to read one book.

AngelaBIsReading (angelabisreading) I agree, a month is a long time for one book, should we give it 2 or 3 weeks instead? Just a suggestion - I'll go along with whatever the group decides. I'm excited to start reading Carry On!

message 26: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna I just put it on my kindle I'll probably start tomorrow. I'll definitely update as I go.

message 27: by Cilla (new)

Cilla 2f (troublesavage) | 23 comments I think two weeks sounds good... But three weeks might be nice for others?

message 28: by Wynonna (new)

Wynonna I would say 3 weeks just in case someone needs to go purchase the book or if you they are in school

message 29: by Cilla (new)

Cilla 2f (troublesavage) | 23 comments Sounds good to me :)
