I'm beginning to believe that this is the true reason folks are resistant to reading The Wake ; not because it's "difficult" but, you know, because it's dirty. And it's probably a book embarrassed about being so dirty so wears its shame on its sleeve (and sublimates the dirty parts like anna ffective strategy of repression in the Name of Reality (the heck-principle), (&c)) ;; which makes it an embearrrassing book to read, em bare ass meant at one remove, a doubling of bare assing meaning that one is ashamed to witness the Others' shaum. It's a real shem. Arrooo!
