Klarissa G | 12 comments The third and final book in the Matched trilogy, Reached, continues on with the many themes as shown in the previous books. One of the main themes is that you should follow your own path, even if it’s not what others think you should do. Cassia finally finds the boy that she has been looking for and together they travel on a long journey to find the rebellion against the society. When they reach the Rising, they are yet split up again due to their different abilities, but Cassia soon finds out that where she is going for her new assignment is where her match is also located. Her internal conflict about who she is really in love with takes over a large part of the story, and she decides to let them both know whom it is she wants to be with. The two boys Xander, her match, and Ky agree that since they both love Cassia that whomever she chooses wont cause conflict between them because they both just want her to be happy. Among their journey to help start the rebellion among the society, they meet the Pilot and leader of the Rising. The one thing that was supposed to overthrow the society and its rules was now coming into contact with problems, and the Pilot believes it’s the three of them who are the ones to fix it. “ For the first time, I hear him lose control while he speaks. It’s only the last word, cure, and I can tell how truly desperate and driven he is. He wants this cure. He will do anything he can to find it, “ (Condie, Page 271). At first, I wasn’t too thrilled about the author’s writing style because like it was in the second book, each chapter was switching from the thoughts of one character to another. However, after I got used to reading it that way, I became to like it more. It was better to be able to see what was going on while reading the story from the different characters’ perspective. The words she uses and the way she details her writing make it interesting, and I think most people would find it enjoyable. I feel like the book is different in a way that the author made it more unique, and I would recommend it to whomever likes romance, rebellion, and adventure.
