Quintana of Charyn discussion

Do any of you know about a rare disorder called Multiple Personality Disorder?

For those who don't, MPD is defined as a rare dissociative disorder in which two or more personalities with distinct memories and behaviour patterns apparently exist in one individual.

It is usually thought to be an effect of early childhood trauma. When individuals separate a part of themselves to deal with the cruelty inflicted.

I suspected Quintana's having MPD as soon as the ideas of there being a Princess Indignant and a Quintana the ice maiden were introduced. Then when Lirah said 'as a child she managed to separate parts of herself and make them whole beings... each situation requires a different Quinana... it's pure genius' - I was convinced it was MPD.

Then it was revealed that it was the result of her picking up another spirit - or more spirits.

What if... what if MPD was a result of children who survived near-death? Who picked up other spirits as they almost died? Not impossible since most - if not all - people with MPD were physically abused to the point of near-death as children.

Now that is a spiritual as opposed to scientific interpretation of MPD.
