So I've been listening to The Night Circus on audiobook on my commute, and I really enjoy it! Today I listened to a section about red-headed twins who trained incredibly skilled kittens to perform circus tricks. KITTENS. In the circus!!

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the book, despite the fact that I think it would be far to slow and plodding for me to actually sit down and read. The audiobook is clever and interesting and very visual.

Has anyone else read it? What were your favorite parts? Who are your favorite characters?

I really like Marco, but I also am fond of those red-haired Murrey twins!

I read it a few years ago and loved the imagery and how visual it is. I think it'd make a great movie. I can't really remember a character that stood out as a favorite, but I know I enjoyed the love story between the two main magicians. I liked how unique the story was, especially for someone like me who tends to stick to realistic fiction.

I've just gotten to the parts where the romance between them really starts. And it's lovely. They are so perfect for each other!

Things are getting really intense between the conveners of the Circus and there is so much tension! I like the tension between Celia and Marco the best, though. There aren't as many scenes about them as I expected. I do like how we kind of knew from the beginning that they would fall in love - but we didn't know how, or when, and now that they are we still don't know what will happen. It's quite an unpredictable story, despite its slow, somewhat plodding and deliberate pace.

I do remember it took me a while to get through it even though I liked it. It was one of those books that I enjoyed while reading it but kind of forgot about it when I wasn't.

D (d_thelarue) | 3 comments I will say that, like 5 years after these first posts, Night Circus is one of the best prose books I've ever read. Her description of things makes me feel all giddy and wonderful... The only problem is there is kind of no real plot. Sure, there is the duel and the problem of falling in love, but really that all takes a backseat to how weird the circus is and how well Morgenstern describes its weird, yet beautiful sights and employees.
