Amanda (amandabookworm) Overall an interesting book, but I ended up giving it two stars. The author's theory that television is basically the Trojan horse for a multi-level conspiracy to turn us into puppet citizens is too much. I agree that television and other media need to be used in moderation. The author criticized metropolitan and suburban living as a narrow, suffocating existence that removes us from nature and disrupts our natural instincts. I found this ironic since he lived in San Francisco at the time he wrote the book. There is interesting information about brain activity and overall physical activity while watching television, but these are not issues if you use them in moderation (as I said above). I think there were a lot of scare tactics used, with no proposals of how to eliminate television included.
