Alien (RP) discussion

Marrik led Elora through the treetops and across the rickety bridges connecting each building in the trees. He finally found the hospital and took a long deep breath before stepping in. He wasn't ready for whatever lied beyond that door but he stepped in anyways. When the door closed behind them he saw people and doctors that looked exactly like him, only with different colors. Some of the faces he recognized from the past. He stood at the entrance, taking it all in.

They had gone through trees and over bridges until they finally found the hospital. She stepped in the door with Marrik. She noticed him looking around at everything, he probably needed a minute. Looking around herself, she saw people with the same characteristics as Marrik, but none were as drop dead - what? She brushed the thoughts away, feelings of insecurity rushing in, in their absence. She didn't belong here.

Marrik noticed that people were staring at Elora. He quickly pulled her into the crowed and out of the line of sight. He pushed his way to the front counter and rung the small bell sitting there. After a minute of waiting a doctor came. "What room is Thane in?" He asked the person. "Down the left hall room 702." He told him.

Elora watched quietly as Marrik figured out which room Thane was in. He said down the left hall. She turned her head to look, and saw a few people down that hallway but not nearly as many were in the main lobby. She have his hand a gentle squeeze, reassuring him that he wasn't alone.

Marrik sighed and turned around. He made his way down the left hall, searching for room 702. When he found he stood in front of the door, hoping that Elora would take all this news that she was about to find out about him good.

Marrik stopped at a door down the left hallway. Elora's gaze flickered to the room number. 702 She took a step closer to Marrik. She had no idea what was beyond that door and Marrik didn't seem too thrilled about going in either. She would wait for him to make the next move.

Marrik hesitantly turned the knob of the door. He stepped in and saw Thane laying in his hospital bed. His face and feathers were colored with deep purples and blues, only he had more human features then Ergan. Marrik stepped into the room with Elora and Thane turned his head to see who had entered. "Hi dad." Thane said, his voice full of pain and suffering.

Elora followed Marrik into the room. Her gaze fell upon a man lying in a hospital bed. Thane's next words hit her like a blow to the stomach. Hi dad. Elora released Marrik's hand and took a step away. That was his son? Marrik had a son?

"Hi Thane." Marrik said sadly. When Elora released his hand he walked to the edge of the bed and pulled up a chair next to Thane. He looked down at the floor then up at Elora. "Elora this is my son." He told her quietly.

Elora didn't know what to do. He had a son? She just couldn't believe it. She glanced at the door, wanting to run but Marrik's voice anchored her to the spot. Elora this is my son. She looked at Thane and immediately felt awful for reacting the way she did. She have him a smile and a wave before coming closer.

Marrik pulled his glance away from Elora when he saw she was okay with it. "Ill explain later." He said under his breath and focused on Thane. "How are you feeling?" Marrik asked.
"How do I look?" He snarled. "So you finally come to see me when I'm ok my death bed. You're a great father." He said sarcastically.

Elora nodded in response to Marrik's promise to explain it to her later. She then turned her attention to Thane. She was surprised by the way he was speaking to Marrik. Her eyes widened and she even felt hurt by what he was saying, but she kept quiet.

"I'm sorry." He looked away ashamed. "You know what was happen-"
"Yeah, I know exactly what was happening." Thane cut him off. "You were too scared to face the fact that you had to raise me on your own so you didn't." Thane told him.
"Stop..." Marrik trailed off.

Elora decided to attempt to take the attention off of Marrik. She fake coughed a few times and once the attention was on her she spoke. "Sorry....so Thane...I'm Elora." She gave him a warm smile. "It's nice to meet you, can we get you anything?" She kept her expression soft and welcoming, hoping he would respond kindly to her at least.

"Oh who's this?" Thane asked, not surprised. "You know it's getting kind of old. You do this every hundred years. It's the same thing. You even told me this when I was younger. You said that Seha... My mother would be the last, but you were obviously wrong." Thane said angerly.
"I said stop it Thane." Marrik said between his teeth.
"No." Thane told him firmly then turned to Elora to answer her question. "Yeah. I want a dad that actually cares about me and visits me more then just when I'm on my death bed."

Elora sat quietly listening to Thane and Marrik go back and forth. It made her nervous and she could feel herself start to shake. When Thane turned to her, she met his gaze. He looked sad and angry and his words confirmed both of those emotions. "It's not what you think....I-I'm sorry." Was all she managed to say. She spoke quietly and softly, not wanting to upset Thane anymore.

"You wanted me to visit you Thane and apparently all you wanted to do was tell me things I already know and try to make me feel bad for what I did." Marrik sighed. "If this is the way you're going to treat me then I should go." Marrik said raising his voice.
"Don't be, you're not the first." Thane told Elora. "If you want to leave then leave. I only wanted you to visit because I knew you would want to see me a least one before I passed." Thane said in a calmer tone.
"You were right." Marrik sighed.

Elora was hurt by what Thane said. You're not the first. Those words stuck in her mind and she couldn't seem to get rid of them. She glanced at Marrik then back to Thane. She was so out of place and she knew it. She didn't understand what was wrong with Thane. She probably should have kept her mouth shut, but her heart was breaking for both of them. "I don't understand... Can't the Doctors help him?" She asked innocently, preparing for some kind of backlash for her question.

Marrik's head fell heavy into his hands when he heard Elora's question.
"It's not possible." Thane told her. "My mother was human. There are many things that could go wrong with inner species breeding. I was born with a deadly disease that slowly eats me from the inside Elora." Thane told her sadly. "There's no curs for that. That's what happens when you have children outside of your race." He said and glared over at Marrik.

Elora could hear her heart beat in her own ears. It suddenly got really hot in the room, or was it just her? She felt dizzy and felt tears forming in her eyes. "Thane...I'm so sorry." Was all she could get out. Her voice was cracking and she didn't want to break down. Not here. Not in front of Thane or Marrik.

"Don't be." He shrugged. "It's not your fault or mine. It's just something that I've had to live with my entire life so I've gotten used to it."
"Did the doctors tell you how long you have?" Marrik asked sadly.
"They said sometime this week." Thane said. "They don't know which day though. I'm guessing sometime at the end."

Elora nodded at Thane. She hated to see anyone, especially someone close to Marrik, in such a condition. She looked to Marrik, feeling completely torn up inside. She saw the sadness in his eyes and it didn't help her unhappiness. She settled for staring at the floor. She didn't want to cause anymore controversy.

"Do you need anything?" Marrik asked, finally looking up.
"I'm okay for now. The doctors just have me pain medication so I should be asleep soon. You two should go, it looks like you've got a lot of explaining to do." Thane told him. Marrik nodded and stood up.
"Ill see you tomorrow Thane." He promised.

Elora waited for Marrik to lead her out. She took a long glance at Thane and gave him a smile. She wanted to comfort him, but she was still unsure about him and it was pretty clear that he didn't care for her.

"Good bye." He told them, smiling slightly. Marrik took Elora's hand and led her out of the room and took her to the hospital waiting room. "Do you wat me to explain it here or someplace quiet?" He asked her.

"Just...take me somewhere quiet...please." She said, glancing around at all of the people, feeling like she was going to lose it at any moment. She was holding back her tears and she knew she wouldn't last much longer.

Marrik nodded and pulled her outside of the hospital. He stood on one of the bridges, trying to remember where his old house was. He thought of the long climb it took to get there and turned to face Elora. "Get on my back." He said to her, quietly.

She looked up into Marrik's eyes. She wasn't sure if this was the same Marrik she had met on Earth and in that moment she was scared. Of him. She took a step back, unsure of herself, unsure of everything.

"Elora. Get on my back." He told her again. "If you want to know what I'm going to tell you please just get on. I'm going to take you to my house." He said.

Elora nodded, still frightened but trying her best to work through it. She climbed on his back and wrapped her arms tightly around his chest.

Marrik rested his hands firmly on her upper thighs. He ran through the trees quickly. It was faster with her on his back because he knew the trees better then anyone. He made his way across bridges and the tree tops, working his way to his old house.

Elora was still wearing the same dress she had been wearing earlier. She felt Marrik's hands against the bare skin of her thighs and a shock went through her system. She closed her eyes and rested her head against his back, waiting patiently until they reached his house.

Marrik led Elora back to hospital they were at the day before. His head was pounding and there was a loud ringing in his ears, but he tried to keep it well hidden. He walked into hospital and for some strange reason it was a lot calmer then the day before. There wasn't as many people and there was a lot less noise coming from the rooms.

Elora followed Marrik into the hospital and looked around. It was a much better environment for her today. With less people, she was already relaxing a bit. She tugged Marrik past the counter, they already knew where they wanted to go. She went down the left hallway and stopped at room 702.

Marrik stopped in front of the door. "Just-uh-try not to make him mad. I know that's really easy to do, just try your best not to." He told Elora before opening the door. The last thing Marrik wanted was for Thane to be mad again.
"Hey." Thane said as they walked through the door, he seemed in a better mood then yesterday.
"Did he explain everything?" He asked Elora.

Elora walked into the room and gave Thane a smile. Did he explain everything? She didn't say anything, she simply nodded. Looking to Marrik for reassurance.

"I did." Marrik nodded, remembering himself breaking down and telling her everything.
"And she's still with you?" Thane asked, his eyes wide in shock.
Marrik nodded again. "It was her choice not mine." The Thane turned towards Elora. "Why?" He asked her. "You've heard all this things he's done and yet you still let him drag you around like a ragdoll."

"He meets my qualifications." She says, smiling and glancing at Marrik. "Anyways....we're here to talk about you, not me. How are you feeling today?" She asks gently, standing beside the hospital bed, her hands resting against the edge.

Thane smirked when she said Marrik had met her qualifications. "I'm fine." He shrugged. "Same as yesterday really. The doctors can't in this morning and have me until Thursday. Today's Monday right?" He asked.
"Correct." Marrik said and sat down where he was yesterday.

Elora stood by Thane, trying her best to be of some comfort to him. She would have to be very careful not to upset him, but she wanted to know more about him. "So Thane, why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself?" She asked, resting her chin in the palm of her hand.

Marrik smirked at her curiosity. He knew that Thane wouldn't get mad over that question because he always knew Thane was arrogant and he loved talking about himself. Marrik looked up at the two and watched.
"I don't know where to start." Thane smiled.

Thane's smile made Elora's heart skip a beat. Not in the same way that Marrik's did of course, but it made her happy to see him happy. "I suppose you could start with the basics." She said smiling. "Age, favorite color, what you like to do..." She trailed off, thinking about when she'd asked Marrik these same questions, back on Earth.

Thane thought about it. "You're little one I see." He chuckled in a similar way his father did. "Lets see..." He paused thinking about his answers. "I'm 147 years old, my favorite color is blue, and I like to watch movies and got out to parties but I'm usually not able to do that stuff because I'm normally stuck here, getting tested on." He told her.
