Amazing series that I fell into by accident but was so happy that I did. And I may be alone in saying this but I was equally impressed with both movies as well.
I thought this was a really good series. I've read a few YA novels recently, and I think this is the best series I've read. Katniss is a well written character: she's got a lot of good qualities but she's flawed as well. I think the film adaptations have changed a few bits in the novels that didn't need to be changed, but overall they've been really good, and I thought Jennifer Lawrence was great as Katniss. Looking forward to the next film coming out!
I've only really read the first book, kind of lost the flow early in book two. It was an enjoyable read, but the sheer amount of hype and attention focused on it in recent years has kind of soured me on the experience. I understand that YA is a growth industry, but the book was not groundbreaking, nor original, nor even that well written. What's more, if we're going to be talking about dystopian literature, there are so many better examples out there. Call me a snob, but I prefer that my dystopia be a bit more subtle and layered, and not much a story about teenage angst and wish fulfillment.

I'm wondering if she had gotten the movie deal already and they rushed the 3rd book out. The movies have been enjoyable thus far.
