Dragonflight - Anne McCaffrey 4/27

On my journey through Pern, I met Lessa and F'lar. F'lar is the leader of the dragonriders and Lessa, the only survivor of a massacre, has telepathic abilities that allow her to communicate with dragons.

Review:
I like dragons, especially dragons that allow riders so I figured this book was right up my alley. I didn't like it as much as I expected to, with the glowing reviews and all. I had difficulty with the bizarre apostrophe names. Everybody had one and they were too similar to keep track of who was who. I didn't think the world building was clear as it took me a while to figure out what the heck was going on. And what kind of danger are "threads"? Really that's supposed to be scary for dragons?

I did love the imagery though. The dragons and the relationship with their riders was well done. I could actually feel them take flight. This was very well-written. I'm not giving up on this series just yet as first books tends to be difficult. Hopefully future installments won't have anymore near rapes as that wasn't necessary to advance the story.

Barbara, I had the same problem. It was a gift from a friend who said I must read it, I am a big sci-fi girl, and love dragons, but sadly I really didn't care for the book.

I have been here for the last two Quests! I chose Joanne because of the three choices, when I compared our books, we had the most in common at 82%.

From her books, I chose , which has been in my Kindle tbr pile for a long time.

In this book I met Aria. It took awhile to get used to her and the way she spoke. But she eventually grew to be a character I like.
