I think I'll read this as I've already read a book about North Korea which was an extremely interesting read.
I have almost completed this book. I encourage everyone to read this. It is an education in courage and the everyday struggles of the North Korean people.
I envy those of you who are yet to read this (pardon the pun).
I echo Sandy and positively encourage everyone to read it.

Excellent!
Mine arrived last week. The usual small heap of books to finish first though!

I agree with Jo; in fact it was Jo and Elizabeth talking about how wonderful this was that got me to pick it up, since I don't often read nonfiction. It is an incredible book and well worth reading.
I agree this is a great book. Not only is it a fascinating insight into life in North Korea, but I found it well written and gripping throughout. I really felt like I got an insight into these people's lives by the end of the book.
My husband a I have been listening to an audio version of this during our drive from Dorset to Lancashire and back. I really like the way that history is told through the lives of a few families.I am also surprised at how little history I know if this region.
I bought "Nothing to Envy" after reading The Orphan Master's Son. I hope to start reading it soon. Finally approaching the end of Shōgun. I'm looking forward to my first group read.
