Be careful of the river. Who knows, there could be water spirits lurking beneath the thin skin of the water.

Kato sat near the water's edge, not making a sound. HE pulled the collar of his black jacket up, feeling like he needed to cover his face more, just to be careful. Though he made sure to sit in the shade this time, he felt like the sunlight could break through the leaves on the tree that was currently giving him the shade and reach him. He kept his swords by his side, his pale hand hovering near the hilt, so he could easily defend himself if he needed to. He should have come at night. It would have been easier. He sighed and pulled his knees up to his chest. The only reason he left the castle during the day was so he could get some peace and quiet.

Jade walked around. It was getting easier to walk outside of the borders, well except for the constant nagging of Aidan and Elizabeth.
Kato picked one of his sword up off of the pebble covered ground and inspected it. All that he heard was the water rushing quickly through the stream. It was a nice sound. Usually, all he heard were the voices of people nearby, all crowding around in his head. He stood up, brushing off any dirt that might of been on his clothes and began to pace in a perfectly straight line. He made a mental note to come back to this spot. No one ever seemed to be around, which was the best in his eyes.

Jade sighed quietly. The Shadows were waking and beginning to argue again. She had gotten into the middle of so many conflicts. She was tired of the noise and desperately wished to stay in the quiet, but she had been cursed. And everything was her fault.
Kato suddenly wondered if anyone else was near the river. He kind of hoped not. No one seemed to understand him or his power. As his thumb skimmed the flat part of the blade lightly, he thickened the shadows around him with ease. Darkness gave him comfort.

Jade saw out of the corner of her eyes the thick shadows. She sighed again as a Shadow Walker child cried. She walked past the shadow a little, though her curiosity was begging her to see what it was
Kato stopped pacing and sheathed both of his swords. He didn't think he would need them. He leaned down as his eyes scanned the rock, displeasure in his eyes. He began to move them to different spots, setting them into groups with the same shade of colour and size. He scolded himself in his mind. He knew full well that if he started something like this, he wouldn't stop until the entire river bank was fixed. But his hands seemed to have a mind of their own as they darted around, putting stones into piles.

Kato froze. He heard something- no someone. Someone had come into his range of telepathy. He almost groaned out loud in annoyance. He didn't exactly like people, and he knew people didn't really like him. But, nonetheless, he was curious about who it was. He could sense the confusion in the other person's thoughts. He shook his head to himself and he continued working on put the stones into particular piles.

Jade looks closer into the shadows, something she had always been able to do since she could teleport in shadows. She saw it was another person, she had been meeting too many people lately, sadly most of them were guys...and she didn't even know she could trust them.((Ummm....ok I don't know if that made her sound lesbian by saying she doesn't like guys but she isn't. Sorry of it does sound like so.))
((Whaaat? It doesn't make her sound lesbian. And why are you apologizing, lol.))Kato tried to ignore the sounds of the other person's mind, It kind of sounded like a girl, but he reminded himself that he shouldn't assume things. Sometimes, it was hard to tell what gender the person might be by just listening to their thoughts.

He sighed deeply to himself, hearing the girl's thought clearly in his mind. He rolled his eyes. What was he stacking rocks for? She should know. Everyone should know.Stop it. She isn't like you. He told himself. Sometimes, he wished he knew someone who had OCD. Maybe then, somebody would understand him slightly more than others.

Kato kept putting the pebbles into groups, until a patch of light opened up where a few leaves fell from the tree he was under, shining down on the back of his hand. He hissed in pain as it burned and quickly recoiled away from the light. He glared at the stream of light that had broken through. Autumn was right around the corner, and soon, he would have nothing left to conceal him from the sun. He wouldn't be able to come out in the day anymore.

Jade winced at the light. But it was warm, something she never was. She loved the warmth, as of being in a nova. In fact she was so cold, a nova would really be the only thing to warm her up
For the first time, Kato looked to where the thoughts were coming from. Like a voice, a normal person could hear what direction it was coming from. It was the same with thoughts. He saw a figure in the shadows. Sometimes, he freaked himself out by how well he can see in the dark, shadow manipulator, or not. As he thought, it was a girl. The back of his hand still burned from the sunlight, but he knew the pain would fade away in a matter of time.

Jade sighed, sinking in the warmth of the small ray of sunlight. Then...it was gone. She looked down, her attention and curiosity no longer wondering of the guy in the thick shadows.
Kato saw the girl look down. He wondered what she was looking at. Something about sunlight? No, no, no, no... He thought, trying to pull out of the girl's mind unsuccessfully. Every time he tried, he failed.

She felt a small disturbance in her head, something tugging at her mind. She frowned slightly and then Aidan's voice broke through to her, telling her she needed to get back before dark. She rolled her eyes
Kato groaned in frustration and muttered a curse under his breath. Why did everything have to be so complicated? Then he heard something. Another voice in the girl's mind. He tilted his head in confusion. He didn't see anyone else near the girl. Weird.

'Ill be fine Aidan.' She told him in her head. She looked at him, clouds of black smoke around his legs and traveling up around his torso. 'You know what Demon will do to you if she finds you.' He said
Now he was even more confused. She was having a conversation in her head? With someone else...a boy named Aidan? And who was Demon? Questions circled throughout his mind, then they stopped with a screeching halt. What was he doing? Why was he so concerned about this?Maybe because it's never happened before. He told himself. Well, that's not particularly true. About a year ago, he met someone with a multiple personality disorder. Their thoughts were pretty jumbled up. It was a strange experience, an yet, he didn't think that that was the case with this girl.

Elizabeth found her way into the conversation, taking sides with Jade. 'She'll be fine. We'll be here for her anyways if she gets in trouble.' She said in a mischevious tone
Another voice? Instead of more confusion, interest filled Kato's mind. He wondered what they were talking about. And were they all different people? And what did they mean by trouble? Well, obviously the demons...

'Guys seriously. Just...leave me alone?' She asked though she knew it was impossible.'Even if we could, we wouldn't.' Aidan said in his usual protective tone.
Wow. The other voices seemed kind of...overprotective. He sighed to himself. Something he's never experienced. He didn't whether that was a good thing or a bad thing. He looked closer into the shadows, but still couldn't see who she was talking to.

Their words became louder as Aidan and Elizabeth began to argue with each other. There was already enough arguing she had to deal with and this wasn't helping her. "Stop." She whispered through clenched teeth, her eyes closed
He winced as the words became louder in his mind. In the distance, he could see the sun slowly setting. He felt relief wash over him. His attention went back to the girl. He decided to risk it and take a few steps towards her. That couldn't hurt, right?

She tensed up, hearing footsteps come closer. She took a glance and saw it was only the guy.'Calm down Jade. It isn't Demon.' Aidan said calmly
'You know why I act this way. Especially towards guys.' She said in her head.
'Its just a small curse.' Elizabeth said
"Curse?" He muttered. He froze in his tracks. It seemed kind of obvious that this girl didn't want him near her. He couldn't really blame her either.

Jade barely heard him. She kept her head down, puzzle pieces forming in her head. 'Hes a mind reader.' She told them and Aidan and Elizabeth immediately stopped talking
He almost sighed again. How many times had he done that now? He'd lost count. Whenever someone figured out that he was a mind reader, they left him all alone, always yelling at him that he should stop. It wasn't like he could help it! He'd been told by someone that mind readers could usually pull out of someones thoughts, and that's what they expected him to do.

Jade looked at the sky, now dark and filled with brightly sparkling stars. 'You should get back inside the borders.' Said Aidan
Jade just shook her head
Kato wondered why the girl was refusing Aidan's suggestion. It was dangerous out here, what with the demons and all. But that one particular thing they were talking about....demon? No, Demon. They said she to describe it. Was Demon a person?

'No. Demon is a...well demon.' Aidan said into the guys mind. He didn't mind doing that, in fact most Shadow Walkers talked to other people as well.
Kato blinked. He didn't really think the other person would speak directly to him. "Why can't I see you?" He asked, speaking out loud. Even if someone had the power of invisibility, he would be able to sense them in the shadows, but he couldn't see them.

'Well I'm a Shadow Walker. In some peoples words, a spirit. Or a ghost.' He said. 'Only few can see us.' Jade rolled her eyes
"Oh." Kato said. He guessed that made sense..."Okay." He saw the girl roll her eyes. Did they annoy her, or something? And earlier, they said something about about even if they could leave. Did that mean that they were stuck somewhere?

Kato narrowed his eyes when he saw the girl look around, as if something were about to happen. He suddenly spun around, sensing something in the shadows, something that wasn't human. He couldn't tell where it was, though, but just that it was there. Usually, he'd be able to pinpoint the exact location of something in darkness.

'Jade. Go back to the border.' Aidan said.Jade looked at him then at the guy near her.
'We'll get him out.' He said
Jade. So that was her name. Kato shook his head. "No, that's okay. I can get back on my own. He could see the sun finally go below the horizon. He sighed in relief and breathed in the fresh night air. As night fell, he could feel energy fill him as darkness enveloped everything.

Kato could feel the demon getting closer. He drew one of his swords. The blade was pitch black with black cloth wrapped around the hilt for a firmer grip. He concentrated and the shadows around him left the ground and wrapped around his sword. He wasn't running away this time.

((Do you mind if the demon that I made comes in, or do you want to use something else?))Kato adjusted his grip on his sword, feeling the weight of his other sword on his hip. He didn't know whether or not Aidan and the other girl went with Jade. He kind of wished that he could see them. It would make this a lot easier.
