Quiz: Can You Tell These YA Stories Apart?
I got 24/53, and I've only read two of them (HP and Hunger Games). I guess the others I got right I just absorbed from the internet.

I'm clueless about Stars.
Given that I've only read Harry Potter and book 1 of The Hunger Games I think I'd score about -1.Real score: 7.
14/53Might have helped if I read the instructions and realized you could choose more than one answer. Hahaha! THIS IS WHY MY TEACHERS HATED ME IN SCHOOL!!!

Me three! *smacks self* But on positive note, I haven't read any of these books but scored 12/53. Guess I retained a lot of the chatter from N&Ns. :)
18/53, and I haven´t read any of these! I did see the Harry Potter and the Hunger Games films though.
17/53- I've read all those books, except for the last Divergent series book. I think the way they framed the questions is misleading.
I've read enough of these to know that some of the answers are wrong from a certain point of view. Example: Harry Potter is never drawn into anything that is "insanely complicated."
22/53Helps that I saw Divergent over the weekend and there was a preview for Stars in it. Love Harry Potter, really like Hunger Games, and my fiance made me watch Twilight. Yep, you heard right... He made me. You'd think the roles would be reversed there, but nope..
LOL, that's funny, because the whole time I watched it (all of them including the last one), I laughed my ass off. It's not that it was a bad movie.. It was just so over the top dramatic, it came across as a comedy to me. But despite everything.. It was enjoyable. I didn't fall asleep, and that's saying a lot for someone like me with movie ADD.
I'm one of those people who try not to judge without reading/watching first. I really don't like when everyone jumps on the hate (or love) band wagon, yet have no idea what they're talking about, so I decided to read Twilight for myself.I groaned my way through book 1, tolerated book 2, but actually enjoyed books 3 and 4. That being said, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in watching any of the movies.
Okay - there's something wrong with my test. I only missed 2 questions (both HP - I think Harry *does* doubt himself & he *does* date someone he isn't 'supposed' to but whatever....) and I got a 23 - the test said I clearly only watched the movies.... which is funny because I *have* read each of the books but haven't seen all of the movies....I demand a recount!!!!
(I'm just kidding... kind of... sort of... Lol)

I didn't mind the first Twilight book - thought it was kind of cute. I hated the 2nd one. Forgot the 3rd one... no, really - what happened? And the 4th one made me think WTH?! Still better than 50 Shades though - I couldn't even finish the 2nd book of that one.
Nyssa wrote: "I'm not quite curious enough to read 50 Shades."My co-workers took up a collection to have me read 50Shades.
O_O
I couldn't do it.

A collection, really..Wow! I think I'd still be right there with you though.
My aunt made me read it. Yes. My aunt. And I *was* curious. I don't like judging without knowing what I'm judging. But... it really was as bad as I believed it would be. I have never wanted to hurt a book more than 50 Shades. Too bad it was on my nook - or maybe that's a good thing.

I kept their money to remind them that I won't knowingly read sucky books.

My mom bought the 50 Shades box set and tried to loan it to me. After I stopped shuddering I just said, "No, thanks, I don't read on paper anymore."I should note that my mother and I have our boundaries in... different places than most people. But that's mostly because we make a game of embarrassing each other as well as those who happen to be nearby.
50 Shades was just... a shade too far.
DoodlePanda wrote: "Lol I've actually read 50 shades... *hangs head in embarrassment*"No one should ever feel embarrassed for reading ANY book. EVER. Just so we're clear.
I just draw the line at borrowing mommy porn from my mommy.
Hahaha fair enough :)I guess I'm not really embarrassed, it's just very far from the type of books I normally read.
I guess I don't really regret reading it either, I am too curious to have left it after all the hype it got. I will pretty much try any book I guess. Especially if I get them recommended. Which is why I got a few 'random' books on my list :)
DoodlePanda wrote: "Lol I've actually read 50 shades... *hangs head in embarrassment*"I fully support your freedoms to read whatever you want. I think reading is great. Period.
Of course, now that you're a friend...you officially can get joked on for your reading materials. And I fully expect the same in return. :-)
It's almost a running gag that Sensei will rec The Deed of Paksenarrion and I will rec Andre Norton.

That sounds good to me MrsJ :) I predict you will have plenty of opportunity to do so, as I have a friend who is very fond of the 50 Shades type books and often talks me into reading some of them! A couple of her recommendations have been good though, so can't complain :)

*snicker*
Guilty as charged.
And Kate Daniels, lol.

My problem with 50 is the quality of the writing. bleh.
But I can recommend some good smut...
^.^

Lucky for you, I've been working on this handy-dandy guide to Andre Norton: https://bookslifewine.wordpress.com/f...
No. Seriously. I have.

My problem with 50 Shades wasn't the smut - I've read smuttier - and it wasn't the writing - I've read worse. It was the - for me - unhealthy and controlling relationship. But - this is a personal issue - and to each her - or his - own. Hey - my aunt loved it and she's still my favorite aunt... :)
When I heard 50 Shades was imitation Twilight, I didn't figure I'd have much interest.I mean, that's kinda like imitation Spam.

I don't really see the connection... I actually liked Twilight better than 50 shades...
