Selection Roleplay discussion

Fern walked into the spa and sat on one of the velvet red chairs. She played with a dark mahogany brown curly with her slender fingers and looked around inquisitively.

Daniella glided in and took a seat next to two other girls. She looked carefully in the mirror, inspecting herself. She hoped the stylists didn't do anything too dramatic.

"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. I know dahling." Edith turned from the other stylist to face the three girls already sitting down. "My, my, my, we have a lot of work to do. You take the brunette. I'll take the red head. The others will be in in a second." Edith paced slowly around the red head. "What is your name, girl?"

Cate rolled her eyes at Edith. She was a piece of work, but she knew how to work with beauty so she respected her. She nodded in responce to taking the brunette and walked over to the girly with the curly hair. "Hellllooo. I'm Cate and I'm your stylist for today. What's your name?"

"Edith," she said slowly, narrowing her eyes. She picked up a strand of her hair and dropped it and then quickly crossed around to the back of her and looked at Alistair in the mirror. "I'm seeing darkly glamorous. Let's begin."

Edith took a couple cotton balls and immediatly rubbed of the makeup still on Alistair's face and then led her over to the sink and began to wash her hair. "Is this color natural?" Edith said, massaging shampoo into her head.

Edith nodded and rinsed her hair. She helped her stand up and led her to a chair where he hair would dry. She sat her down and stared at her for a moment. As her hair dried she thought of all the things she could do with Alistair and started to formulate ideas of how her makeover would go.

Edith widened her eyes and stepped toward her. "A copy? I do not make copies. I make art." The hair dryer turned off. "Come, come. You are done here." She took her back to the original chair and spun her around. "Darkly glamorous will be your look. You were not before. No, before you were just dark. But now you will be a goddess of the night." Edith picked up the curling iron and plugged it in. Then, she set to separating her hair into medium sized chunks and clipping them apart from each other. After that she took the curling iron and wound the strands around and in it.

After curling her whole head, Edith took a brush to Alistair's hair. This made the curls waves instead. Now, it was time for makeup. She made her skin flawless, then eyes rather dark, then her lips as red as her hair. She clipped some of the wavy hair back and finished with some perfume. "Always remember, perfume makes the woman. A man always remembers her scent." She turned Alistair around to face to mirror. Edith was overall happy with this makeover. Not that she would ever smile.

Daniella watched the stylists work, becoming bored after a few minutes. She looked into the mirror and sighed. She didn't want to be changed into something she was not. She just hoped the makeover would turn out well.

A man in his thirties walked up to Daniella. He was wearing grey pants with a matching vest over a white collared shirt. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows showing he had a gold watch on his left wrist and a silver colored bangle on his other wrist. His hair was neatly gelled to the side and his face was perfectly shaven. Overall he gave the impression of someone who kept themselves in perfect order. Though if you looked closely you'd notice he looked a bit irritated to be there. He held out a hand to Daniella,"Hello, I'm Harrison. I'll be your stylist today. Do you have a particular look in mind?"

Daniella shrugged. "I was thinking maybe some highlights but other than that, I trust you to do your best," she smiled. "Oh and possibly some loose curls," she added. She gazed into the mirror, twirling a lock of hair on her finger.

"Of course." Harrison followed Daniella's instructions. Starting with the highlights first. "Once all the selected are finished with their makeovers, you'll be taken to your rooms to get settled. You'll also meet your maids. They'll be in charge of your style needs for the rest of the selection. Or at least for as long as you are still participating."

Daniella nodded. She was confident she would last. She just had to hope her maids had wonderful style. That and that the prince would fall for her. "Oh, I'm forgetting my manners. I'm Daniella. Daniella Winters." She smiled as she watched him work on her highlights.

Cate rolled her eyes at Edith. She was a piece of work, but she knew how to work with beauty so she respected her. She nodded in responce to taking the other one and walked over to the girl. "Hellllooo. I'm Cate and I'm your stylist for today. What's your name?" she said, practically bouncing.

Kristen wrote: "Daniella nodded. She was confident she would last. She just had to hope her maids had wonderful style. That and that the prince would fall for her. "Oh, I'm forgetting my manners. I'm Daniella..."

"I know who you are. I know the names of all of the selected," said Harrison. "You seem pretty confident-I can see it in your eyes. Not feeling nervous at all?"

"I wasn't speaking to you," said Harrison, glancing at the girl who was sitting next to Daniella. This was probably overwhelming for a girl of her status. "However, I am interested in how you are handling this Miss. Langton. Aren't you one of the sixes?"

((Eml is taking Daniella, who is next to you.))
"Harrison be nice! They're all so nervous and they don't need you harping on them." Cate said in a tone that was about as close to scolding as she could get. "Don't worry about him, Ash... Anywhooo. So what kind of look were thinking about?"

Harrison rolled his eyes at Cate. She knew he wasn't supposed to be there. He was part of the organizing committee-he planned events for the palace. However, several stylists called out sick with the flu. He suspected they were actually hung over from celebrating the start of the selection. This was not what he wanted to be doing. He had got his foot in the palace by being a stylist for several years before finally working his way up to the committee. "She could have at least answered by question."

Daniella smiled. "I'm definitely confident in my chances. I'm more than qualified and I'm sure prince Xander and I will be a perfect match. Going into this with anything less than confidence would be giving up before it started," she shrugged.

"Alright...oooh I got it." said Cate, beginning to pace abruptly stopping a looking at her. "How about a classic elegant look. Maybe a cat eye and a red lip? Ooh, or a day-time smokey eye and like a nude-ish lip. Ugh, wait! We could do some barely there eye makeup and a light natural pink. Ugh, either would look great on you and they don't really alter your face too much."

"Perfect!" Cate said in a sing-song voice and led Ash to the sink to wash her hair.She turned on the water and began to wash it all while describing how fun the whole Selection is. "Ugh, and the dresses you wear! I love them!"

"So where are you from?" Cate said adding conditioner to Ash's hair.

"That's an interesting point Lady Daniella. Though how someone could expect to be in love with someone they haven't met yet is a little childish if you ask me." Once the highlights were in, Harrison began washing her hair. He looked around the room cautiously while the girl's eyes were closed, trying to spot his boss. Craning his neck slightly, he found her standing off to the side. She was observing everyone and everything as usual. It didn't seem like Samantha had spoken to any of the girls yet. He was looking for a sign that she wasn't going to release him from this grunt work early.

Daniella shrugged. "I wouldn't say I'm already in love with him. I'd say it's more like I have a healthy interest in him." She smiled, thinking of the possibilities that the selection had provided for her. She just may be the wife of the stunning prince and the future queen.

"Well you certainly know how to dodge questions. That's a start." Harrison probably wasn't supposed to be speaking to the girls this way, but that was their fault for putting him in direct contact with them. He could care less.

Daniella frowned. "Here's a suggestion: You could at least try to be polite. And anyways, what question have I avoided? Because I can assure you, I didn't avoid it on purpose to be criticized by a stylist."

Lullabelle walked into the spa and eyed everyone suspiciously. She pointed out the people who seemed to be the stylists, then figured out who the other selected girls where. She saw one of the velvet red chairs open, so she walked over to it. She sat down and stared at her reflection. I never knew I had so many freckles. She thought to herself. Even though she was a two never did really look at herself in a mirror, she never thought she had to.

Harrison stopped working and faced the girl, "Watch your tone Lady Daniella. You'll quickly learn that people in the palace are all more than they seem...And besides that, my comment was not an insult. Just something you were not meant to learn unless you were actually chosen. Being a One is very much like playing a part, and you have to know how to speak your lines or they'll throw you off the stage." He thought about mentioning pissing off your stylist was the last thing she should do, but he figured she could learn that lesson herself.

A plump woman with graying black hair came up to Lullabelle,"Hello dear, I'm Olive. I'll be helping you today. What kind of look are you thinking of?"

"Oh hello, I'm Lullabelle and honestly I don't know." She said helplessly. "I've never actually died my hair or gotten highlights and I would like to keep it that way if possible. Maybe curls and light makeup." Lullabelle said softly. Seeing she was always alone as a child she never did get never pampered even when she went to a performance. She looked hopefully at Olive through her reflection in the mirror.

"That sounds lovely." Olive began washing and shampooing Lullabelle's hair, humming a little while she worked,"You know, I never understand why some girl's choose to wear too much makeup and get extensions or highlights in their hair. I was working at the last selection, and that kind of thing never goes over well. The people want to see a naturally beautiful Queen; someone they can relate to. Not someone who looks like they were made in a factory."

Lullabelle giggled at Olive's last comment. "I never understood it either. I remember watching one selection and this girl looked like she was going to a circus with all the makeup she had on." Lullabelle stated, then mentally scolded herself for making such a rude comment.

"Ah, yes. I remember her. Rude girl too. It didn't take long for King Rowan to kick her out... Though, I think makeup or not she never had a chance. None of the girls really did. Not with Queen Laylah in the Selection. We couldn't have asked for a more enchanting Queen." Olive's eyes glowed with pride. She had been Queen Laylah's stylist for most of the Selection. She still was. The two had become very close over the years and she had sent Olive to get the inside scoop of what the girls were really like.

"Oh yes, from the very beginning Queen Laylah was my favorite. Once she was selected I was overwhelmed with joy." Lullabelle gushed. She let out a sigh, thinking what if that was her, what would she do then?

Olive chuckled, "You talk like you were watching it live, but you weren't even born yet." Seeing the girl blush Olive added,"Oh don't worry dear, I get invested in my shows too. There's one on television now about a thief and a wizard...Anywho, King Rowan's Selection was very interesting. Much more entertaining than his father's if you ask me,"Olive whispered the last sentence before continuing in her regular voice, "I do hope we have as much fun with this Selection. Prince Xander is such a sweet boy..."She trailed off, almost mentioning his habit of sneaking off. It was worrying his mother mad.

Daniella nodded. "I understand. I guess I've been a little tightly wound recently, with this whole Selection thing starting. I'll try to be more careful from now on." She ignored the part of her telling her to protest.

Lullabelle nodded and was blushing madly. "Well I hope Prince is." She responded once she had recomposed herself. She gave a small smile while Olive worked on her hair and makeup.

Olive chuckled again seeing her deep blush. She finished with her hair and moved on to her makeup,"Now is there a color or shade you'd like? Once I'm all done you can go to your room and get settled in. I'm sure you're already feeling tired. The first couple days are very hectic."

Harrison was 95% positive she missed what he said completely,"Not to worry lady Daniella...There looks like you're all done. I think they're taking girls to their rooms in pairs if you'd like to get moved in."

"I prefer a pale pink or a light brown." Lullabelle answered Olive. "Oh and thank you for letting me know where to go after here." She gave Olive a genuine smile.

"Okay, thanks for everything," she smiled, admiring herself in the mirror before walking towards her room.

Once Olive was finished Lullabelle looked at her reflection in the mirror. She delicately lifted her curls and stared with awe at her reflection. "Oh my, thank you Olive, it's perfect." Lullabelle smiled gratefully at the woman. I guess while I'm here I could try and get closer to the employees. She thought happily.

"You're very welcome my dear. I hope you enjoy your time in the selection."

Lullabelle smiled at Olive and stole another glance into the mirror. "I will and really thank you and did a fantastic job a whole lot better than I could have ever imagined." She did a small curtesy to the women then turned to leave and head to her room.

Cate nodded mildly oblivious to Ash's dismofort in regards to the question. "So what's your favorite place that you lived, then?" she asked, rinsing her hair one last time and patting it dry.

Cate started to put Ash's hair on rollers but then abruptly stopped. "Wait... do you want your hair curled or like, what do you want your hair to look like?"
