Picking my favorite PNR is much harder than my favorite UF. I think my favorite is Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward. I do love tough men, especially when you get to see their gentle side!
I've only read Laurell K. Hamilton's Antia Blake series. Just recently got interested in PNR series. I'm looking forward to reading Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld. I have friends at work who have recommended it.
Ok. I think I am a little confused. I just saw that Jess also posted a "What's your favorite UF series?". Can someone please explain the difference between PNR and UF? I'm sure I'll feel like a dolt when the answer is completely obvious, but right now I'm just a little lost.
PNR is basically a romance novel with paranormal elements. There is always a Happily Ever After (HEA) for the couple where they end up together.UF may have some romance in it but the plot revolves around a mystery or the action - and not the outcome of a relationship. There is not always a HEA at the end for the couple.
Anita Blake is acutally Urban Fantasy because there is no HEA. It's a great example of UF with LOTS of sex. Just keep in mind that sex does not equal PNR. It took me a long time to get the definitions and differences down. There are probably people here that can explain it better but that's how I tell the difference.
Mine would be Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood, with Singh's Psy/Changeling series as a close second.
Mine would be Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress, too. Tho I supposed you could make an argument for these books being UF, too. On the whole, I don't care for PNR romance so much.
It's a toss up for me between the Sookie series by Charlaine Harris (it was my first pnr series so it will always be up there on my fav list), the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost and the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning. It really all depends on my mood! Do I want a series with some humor in it? Then I turn to Sookie. Do I want more action? Night Huntress Am I in the mood for a mushy romance? Then the Highlander series!
Gosh it's so hard to pick just one, but I would have to say Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen, Followed by Anita Blake, followed by Black Dagger Brotherhood.....oh gosh let's face it, I can't pick just one LOL ;) I'm obsessed with them all.....
Cat and Bones!!! It has to be the Night Huntress series for me. I recently read Nalini Singh's first guild hunter book and really enjoyed it. I see the Psy/Changeling series mentioned a couple times, has anyone read both? How do they compare?
From reading my fellow goodreads posts. I thought I would check out the "Night Huntress" series by Jeanine Frost. I went to my library, didn't have it. So, I order all 4 books. They are soooooooooo good. Cat and Bones are really a great couple!
So as of right now, this is my favorite books!
My fave PNR is Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. But I can't decide on my fave UF--it's a toss up between Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels, Karen Marie Moning's Fever, and Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer.
Althought I'm starting Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series next, and from everyone's comments, looks like I might be adding another to my UF faves. :)
My favorite PNR series is Yasmine Galenorn's Sisters of the Moon/Otherworld series. I've enjoyed other series like Carole Nelson Douglas's Delilah Street and Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville, but Galenorn's is the only UF series I've read where I liked every book in it equally.

One of my favorites is Kenyon's DH series, but running a close second is Nalini Singh's psy-changeling series.
