Shatter Me Series

i never enjoyed it because the heroine is excessively whiny. the villain had the tendency to become hero at every possible chance and the hero is also boring.
I side with Veronica on this one. I also found the heroine unlikable and I really couldn't stand the writing style. That said, it seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it type of book; it was not my thing, but I do know a lot of other reviewers who absolutely loved it.
Thanks! I'm finishing up the delirium series, which I loved BTW, so I'm thinking ahead of what to read next. I've read th Twilight series, Hunger Games, Divergent and now delerium. But I'm not so sure I want to start a series with five books....

I like Shatter Me. For me, the story is unique - remind me of X-Men a bit. The writing style is unusual. Well though the first book is a little bit slow but it's going better on the second book.
I recommend this series. I've read all three books in the trilogy. However, I did not read the two novellas. I enjoyed this series. I'll be honest, you need to persevere until books 2 & 3. I had a really difficult time reading Book 1 - Shatter Me.
Mafi's style of writing is definitely uncommon & nothing-like I've ever read before. Her writing is very stylized & ladened with metaphors & hyperboles.
I hatted Book 1 - Shatter Me. I only rated it 2 stars. I almost didn't pick-up the remaining books in the series because of it. But, you need to read it to understand the background behind the main character & the reasons why she behaves & perceives the way she does.
I thought the series could have benefitted from having a 4th novel allowing for more details & plot to be developed. However, overall, I enjoyed the series.
If anything, in the end, despite your enjoyment or dislike of the book, Mafi's style of writing is so unique that you'll have experienced an uncommon perspective in the first-person writing style.
Give it a go!
i'll be honest....On one hand, Juliette(the protag) was ridiculously annoying in book 1. A victim....and it's okay to be a victim but at least grow from it.
book two is better than Book 2 but she still annoys me....Book 3 she is no longer whiny but I go from hating her to being "whatever" with her.
What makes me a big fan of the story is Warner. once you read book 1 and especially his novella,Book 1.5 you'll see why
With Warner, this book is a 4 out of 5 star for me.
If warner wasn't in it, 2 stars(I love the secondary characters) but warner makes this book what it is.

It seems I'm in the minority here, but once I became accustomed to Ms. Mafi' s style of writing, I liked Shatter Me. I'll admit that it took me awhile to read it, but I thought it was an interesting concept and pretty well executed. Just my opinion, of course...

I just finished Shatter Me and was unsure of whether or not to bother with the rest of the series. Thankfully, you've given me the encouragement I needed. I'm reading a couple of other books first, but Unravel Me and Ignite Me at on my to-read list. Now to see if my library can lend me the e-books...

I'll have to add the novellas to my to-read list as well. Thanks, Micah!

No problem :) If you ignore Juliet, Adam and especially Warner are the best parts of the trilogy plus seconday characters like kenji and others :D
I'll definitely add this to my TRB shelf. Even if the reviews are bad for a book, I always try to give them a chance and form my own personal opinion from the experience. :)

Thanks!
