Welcome to Tamora Lovers! I am glad that you joined! This club is to discuss Tamora Pierce and her wonderful books. (And anything else that you wish to discuss!)

If you have any questions or suggestions, please ask or tell me!

Morgan (mlhiggins84) Hey! I was so psyched when I saw this group. Although we have got to get some more members.
I first discovered TP when I was in middle school. I just happened to stumble across the first Alanna book and I was hooked. It ended up one of those series I went back to again and again. Although she is driving me crazy with this wait for the next Beka Cooper book.

I feel your pain! I feel like I've ben waiting forever for the next Beka Cooper. But the good news is that it comes out April 29th.

message 4: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (mlhiggins84) April of 2009. Not this year but next. Which just blows my mind.

oh, wow, i really need to learn how to read

a whole nother year, but it was supposed to be out fall 2007 and now we have to wait a whole nother year?

that sucks

message 6: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) Hey, does Tamora have a website?

message 8: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (cheshire) I love how a lot of her books are all related or connected in some way!

message 9: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) i luv all her books! i first got hooked on 5th grade, wen i picked up the 1st book in the 2nd set of magic circle books! i was hooked, and am still reading her books 5 yrs later!

message 10: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) I started reading them in like fourth grade, unfortunately i read them the wrong way, POTS first, then Immortals, then Alanna! i so silly...

message 11: by Steph (new)

Steph (kitsune_chan) | 90 comments Mod
Don't think that's sily. I read the Trickster's Queen first then, then Trickster's Choice, went onto the Immortals, then the Song of the Lioness, and then Protector of the Small.

message 12: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) ya but it sorta ruined part of it cuz i knew Alanna would pick george and daine and numair would end up 2gether and all of that.

message 13: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) i read magic circle, then immortals, then tricksters, and alanna, and hvnt read POTS yet... or the beka cooper ones...

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm... by a lot of the members' photos, most of us seem to like cats a lot. Cool!

message 15: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) actually, the cat photos r there for 2 reasons. 1. we like cats and 2. we're part of a roleplaying game about cats ... i dont have a cat cuz my pic fits! lol!

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

POTS?
I haven't gotten to beka cooper yet.........

message 17: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) POTS=Protector of the Small
i hvnt read beka cooper yet either, but some of my frends say that those ones rock JUST as much, so its good.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

....
i dunno 'bout that.

message 19: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (mlhiggins84) I'm not in the role playing. I just love my kitty Patrick. And it seemed appropriate with him sitting on top of the computer cuddled up with the mouse.

message 20: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) i was just sayin that most the ppl w/ cat pics were in the roleplay... i just gotta hv happy bunny though!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Intriguing. Which role-playing game is this?

Btw, there don't seem to be any guys in the group. Well, Tamora does write for and market to girls... I just wonder how a guy would view her books.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I guess I've read all the Tamora Pierce books. I'm a middle school librarian and she is one of my favorite authors. I, too, am waiting for the new Beka Cooper book - how can I wait for another year?

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome!

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi. I'm new too, but I personally like Beka Cooper the best.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, Merenwen! Welcome and thanks for joining the group!

message 28: by Sharayah (new)

Sharayah | 19 comments Warriors right?

message 29: by Sharayah (new)

Sharayah | 19 comments As for guys reading the books I made a few of my guy friends read them haha, and they liked them a lot. They all liked the Immortals best. I think its because its the least girly. And Numair is sort of like the main character in a way sort of connecting to the guys. If that makes sense haha. I wish more guys would read them but ya the market audience is girls. Oh well it's the guys loss!

message 30: by Merenwen (new)

Merenwen My brother seemed to take an interest in Squire when I had it out of the library. He liked the quote about the Chamber opening on someone's corpse (I won't say who, in case some folks haven't read it). I guess he thought the quote was cool. He never did read it, though.

message 31: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (mashley310) I think boys would actually like the books if they read them, but obviously, getting them to read them is another story.

message 32: by Sharayah (new)

Sharayah | 19 comments All we can do is try. :) I mean some of the growing up parts guys might get bored with but the battles and stuff they would like i bet!

message 33: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 18 comments Hi I'm new! I read almost all of Tamora's books. I LOVE them! She is suchhhhhhh a talented writer!

message 34: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 18 comments Wait...Is it too late to join this club?
Cuz i'm sort of replying to reallllllllllly old conversations!!!!!!!

message 35: by Meghan (new)

Meghan | 3 comments I dont no if anyone is still active in this group, but I'm new. I just starting reading books by Tamora Pierce lsat month and I really enjoy them. I read The Immortals series and I am currently reading the Song of the Lioness series. I then plan to read Protector of the Small and then Tricksters Choice.

message 36: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 18 comments Hi! Great choices! :)

message 37: by Emily (new)

Emily I like Beka Cooper the most. It kind of bothers me when girls dress as boys. I mean, its a good idea and some people can pull it off(Tamora Pierce, LA Meyer etc) but some really can't. I thought Terrier was a good change of pace after having read Song of the Lioness and Protector of the Small.

message 38: by Anita (new)

Anita | 1 comments Hello, I'm new to the group and to GoodReads. I have been a Tamora fan since I was in Elementary school, when I read the first Alanna book. More than 20 years later, I'm still waiting for each book as it comes out :) Looks like you guys have some interesting conversations going and I'm looking forward to joining in

message 39: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 18 comments Hi :)

message 40: by Kaitie♥ (new)

Kaitie♥ (HoodiesGirl) | 18 comments I have the book, but I haven't read Harry Potter before. And I just sort of got hooked :) This is the 3rd book in one week :)

message 41: by Esmera (new)

Esmera | 4 comments Ok... I think im replying to a really old topic

But Tamora Pierce is Awesome! She's one of my favorite authors

message 42: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (bkwrm11) | 1 comments Well I am new here and am very happy there are a lot of people who love Tamora Pierce's books as much as I do. I have no idea when exactly I started to read her books but I do remember the first book I got. It was the combination of Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen. I fell in love with the Tortollan world and have been reading her books ever since then. Sorry if it's too long. =)

message 43: by Marissa (new)

Marissa (thewretchedhollow) | 2 comments Hi all, thought I'd introduce myself,

My name's Marissa. 23. Currently going to school in Honolulu, but originally from Seattle. Finally accepting my love of YA books even though I'm not a teeny bopper anymore. I have loved Tamora Pierce since I was first introduced Freshmen year of high school. Since then I think I've re-read The Song of the Lioness Quartet 5 times? And have read two of Pierce's other series. I love them! Before Pierce I really only loved the Harry Potter series, but Pierce holds high esteem in my heart. She definitely helped open up a world of novels to me. And I am so glad to see she's a goodreads author! That's awesome! I dont have many friends on here, so feel free to add me if you like! Looking forward to getting to know you Tortallan lovers!

I have most of the Tortall books (and I have read all of them except the Beka Cooper books which are on my list) and I am looking for the more recent Circle of Magic books. I have read the first four and can't wait to continue because I love the characters so much.
