French Level 1 discussion

Before we start our first lesson, which will be tomorrow, everyone needs to pick a French name! Then, you need to introduce yourself.
For example: Je m'appelle Sylvie. My name is Sylvie.
Another example: Je suis Sylvie. I am Sylvie.

Je suis is informal, and is used around friends, classmates, and family members. Je m'appelle is formal, and is used around teachers, adults (not counting your family), and strangers. In this case, use Je suis, since we are friends. :)
