Was it remade for Lifetime? I remember watching the 1980's version with Louise Fletcher as The Grandmother...and yeah, that was pretty awful.\Fun fact though, the woman washing the windows when the family first arrives to Foxworth is V.C Andrews in a cameo.

I thought V.C. Andrews passed away?
and yes I remember that 1980's version and it SUCKED, especially the ending. This one was MUCH BETTER... I know I read the book a LONG time ago but from what I remember this one was MORE to the tea of the book then the older version... and I love how they are going to do ALL the books into movies... it brings back so many memories I'm tempted to read them again.
I like the Lifetime movies much better than the books.I found the books to slow for me.In the Lifetime movies(only the first 2 have been shown yet)Corrine is played by Heather Graham.Grandmother is played by Ellen Burstyn.Cathy is played by Kiernan Shipka/Rose Mciver.Christphor is played by Mason Dye/Wyatt Nash.Carrie is played by Ava Telek/Bailey Buntain.Cory is played by Maxwell Kovach.....
My girlfriends and I got together to watch the Lifetime remake and all felt it was better than the original, but was STILL so, so, so melodramatic. I guess that's why we were so hooked on these books as teens, though. As a side note, we had powdered donuts for a snack, and giggled the whole time. (dorks!)
We plan on getting together to watch Petals, but haven't yet.

LOL... so true. LOL
and powder donuts... that was evil. LOL
I hated the movie. The book was so disturbingly beautifully written, the movie just had to spoil the image. Secretly though, in the book, I keep wishing Cathy would end up with Chris. Paul would end up with Carrie.
I actually liked the Lifetime version better than the one released in the 80s. The older version was very watered down and didn't even include the incest themes.
The book was awesome! The movie stunk! I am glad I read the book first! I want to read the sequels but don't know yet when that will be..but it is on my list of books I want to read.
I absolutely hated the Lifetime movie. The way I imagined the book and the feel of the book was portrayed so poorly in the Lt movie. It royally sucked. I was very disappointed.
The lifetime movie was a HUGE mistake and let down. I watched the first 1/2 hour and turned it off!! They should have left the good alone. The book was the best, the first movie was also good!

You mean in the 1980's version correct? (well haha since she's obviously not alive anymore) I never knew that! Pretty cool! I'll have to watch it again as I have the old version at home.
