April 2014 Read-a-Thon
I'm in; considering I had already signed up to be apart of the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon at the same time, so works well for me. Taking the opportunity to clear off some ARC's

In order of priority;
Shovel Ready by Adam Sternbergh - 256 pages
The Fever by Megan Abbott - 320 pages
Summer House with Swimming Pool by Herman Koch - 304 pages
My Salinger Year by Joanna Rakoff - 272 pages
The Love Affairs of Nathaniel P. by Adelle Waldman - 242 pages
The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri - 344 pages
Constance by Patrick McGrath - 240 pages
Celebromancy by Michael R. Underwood - 310 pages
That is a total of 2288 pages; there is no way I can do that over the long weekend but I'm hoping to make a big dent in my ever growing ARC list. I'll be happy to read 3-4 books.
I'm in and looking forward to seeing our total. I'm sure with Brenda joining in we'll have no problem reaching 3000 pages :)

I'll begin a list of participants soon so we can all see how many of us are going to be reading, reading, reading that weekend;)

To be honest I read, read, read every weekend.

As we (mostly) all do Phrynne, that's why we should have a successful page read weekend;)

Count me in! So it's all day Friday i.e. from 12.01am 25/4, isn't it? It's fortuitous that the first time is a weekend with a public holiday!

Don't worry, there'll be a lot of chatter in this thread:)

Count me in too Brenda! Great timing for me as my hubby is going away for the weekend with his cycling club so I'll have the whole weekend to myself - all three days of it :D
Great Melissa! If you check this thread, it has information about eReaders which should be the same:)

Definitely count me in please Brenda. The 3000 pages should be a doddle between all of us. You'll cover that on your own Brenda :)
Odette wrote: "Sounds good, count me in. Is it OK to continue reading a book already started?"
Yes Odette, just count from where you start in the book - page 1 or page 100!

Haha! I'm sure we'll make it with the amount of "heavy" readers we have joining in:)

At the moment we have 15 people doing this challenge - with 3000 total, we only need to do 200 each!!! I definitely need to up the page count;)

I'm sure it will be a pile of netgalley books from your binge after lent :P

haha most likely. I've only got 1 book left to read from netgalley (one I'm reading now)and then I'm up to date. I’m eager to have a sticky beak and see what there is :)
Me too! Came home with a pile of books from a trip away, so it's a good reason to get started on them... as if we ever need a good reason!
Count me in! I have no idea what we are doing for the ANZAC long weekend yet but I still always manage to get more reading done over the weekend than through the week anyway in general :-)

Doesn't matter what book Mish, just what you're reading at the time:)

Yes, I'll do it. This will help me get through my 2 concurrent reads for the April monthly challenge. I'm enjoying both but they are taking forever...
Sounds great - count me in - Last term I was talking with one of the year 12 girls about how many words I could read in a night in a book compared to her reading 'fan fiction' online - I was surpised with the number of words she said she read - then when we worked out how many words per page avrg for a book (we googled it of course!) it was actually about the same (or a bit less) than what I did reading a whole book :)

Our first goal will be a total of 6000 pages read by all who participate. If we exceed that total, we will possibly increase it for May.
Please post your interest here in this thread up until we begin the challenge - when the weekend is over the page number read will be tallied:)
If possible, check in at least once a day, more often if you want. Our cut off time for you to add your final totals will be 9am Monday 28th AEST (in case you fall asleep Sunday night;))
Good luck and have fun!
