Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments The alternates:
Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments Hi everyone! I have some free time so if anyone needs help or needs a captain I can help!

message 7: by Amy (new)

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments I am horrible with team names but I will gladly put it thru a name generator.. :D

message 8: by Vi (new)

Vi | 631 comments Hi everyone! I'm not good at coming up with names either. Maybe a name generator is the best way to go :)

Samantha McNulty Hi everyone! I'm so excited about participating once again!

Team name ideas:

Spirit of Twelve
The Midnight Hour
The Twelfth Hour

Turtlecollector Dennis I like The Midnight Hour.

I would prefer not to be captain, but can do it if no one else wants to. The first two weeks I will have limited access to the internet, only through work during the week or on my weekend(Sun/Mon) when I can go home during the day since I am dogsitting/housesitting until the end of April.

message 11: by Amy (new)

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments i also like the midnight hour.. i can be a captain or a co-captain if need be. i work a lot, but always have time to link or roll quick

message 12: by Vi (new)

Vi | 631 comments I'm good with the Midnight Hour too.

I have a 3 month old so my times are erratic. I can't help out with captaincy.

Turtlecollector Dennis I rolled a 7. So we can read a #7 or the alternate is set in Louisiana.

Turtlecollector Dennis I will be reading Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole which partly takes place in Louisiana.

message 15: by Vi (new)

Vi | 631 comments Oh I totally forgot today was Friday. I thought tomorrow was Friday. I'll come back with a book first thing tomorrow morning when I can go through my shelves.

Have we decided on a captain?

message 16: by Amy (new)

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments I will post my book once I get off work... Totally forgot it started today lol

We hadn't, but I rolled since it seemed no one else had yet and to give us as much time as possible to find books. If Amy wants to do it from now on that is fine, or I can keep doing it.

message 18: by Samantha McNulty (new)

Samantha McNulty Hi everyone! So much has gone on recently, so I've been not on GR much. Need to choose my book now...

message 19: by Vi (new)

Vi | 631 comments I have 3 books on hand: Die For Me A Novel of the Valentine Killer (For Me, #1) by Cynthia Eden , Interview With The Vampire (The Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Anne Rice & The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches, #1) by Anne Rice

But the last is too long (1200+ pages) and I'll go with either the first or the second.

Turtlecollector Dennis Space 7

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole by Kresley Cole
read 3/19/14 - 4♥
partly set in Louisiana

I am enjoying this series. Instead of focusing on one immortal species, it is mixing them all up together. In this book, a young witch and a Lykae who were battling against each other in the previous book must find a way to work together to get back to safety in order to hold off a war among species. Then they take on a near goddess with an interesting twist at the end. I am looking forward to see who gets the next book.

Die For Me A Novel of the Valentine Killer (For Me, #1) by Cynthia Eden

Book: Die For Me: A Novel of the Valentine Killer by Cynthia Eden
Date: 21/04/14
Rating: 3 stars
Review:
A Romantic Suspense set completely in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The MC are Katherine, a witness whose ex-fiancé was the famous serial killer, Valentine and Dane Black, a New Orleans police officer.

The suspense part was very well done. I couldn't see the twist coming even though I was thinking of so many scenarios. The romance part, on the other hand, between the two MCs was totally unbelievable. It had the insta-lust/love trope which is not my favorite. I realize that in a genre where the events in a book happen over a course of short time, the author has to somehow connect the characters but I think a HFN would have been better than HEA that this book has. I didn't believe in the love of the two MCs and the whole thing.

But the suspense portion was enough to keep me hooked even though I was rolling my eyes at the romance portion. I'll definitely be checking out other books by this author.

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments i am reading:
Nobody Does it Better (Gossip Girl #7) by Cecily von Ziegesar
date: 4/23
rating: 5 stars
review:

o.k. lets talk catch up. everyone from school is now on vacation at the Hamptons

Blair: she is pressing her family for picking her sister's name. ( i know she has brothers and sisters :) ) her mother is still depressed and a stay at home mom. she is hoping she got into yale.. i will not spoil that fun for you yet! she is planning revenge because she thinks nate is cheating on her..

nate: he is still cheating on blair. not only with Serena, but also with lexie. everyone is going to his apartment for some "stoner" party. he is making a plan to steal his fathers boat and go to a remote island.

Serena: not much to say except she still sleeps around and is up for a good time.

After watching the television show, the novel is obviously a segment of the whole storyline, because it does not really give much explanation as to what happens to each character and is slightly anti-climatic with the story. However, the plot is as follows: nearing end of school year, and nearing graduation all the senior students have to choose a college in which to attend and the preferred college for most is Yale. When Blair is put on the waiting list, with her dream to attend Yale in limbo, her tension with her friends is shown. The experiences of “fun,” that each student experience waiting for the end of the year to approach is a little extreme in some ways. With high priced shopping adventures, and the spa retreat they all attend their fun is a little outrageous to me.

The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller

Such a cute and light hearted contemporary read to get me in the mood for summer.

I love how the author has written this. It's humorous and totally believable to the reader. Such a good read for those long summer nights or lazy days where you want to read something light and fluffy.

Turtlecollector Dennis Samantha, can you add the date you read and the rating to your post? I am going to link it and then roll for our next space now.

Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger by Gail Carriger
read 4/27/14 - 4♥

This was a funny read about a girl who doesn't really fit in her world. She gets sent off to finishing school with her mother hoping it will bring her up to social standards. But the finishing school is not what most people expect. I really like the contrast of prim and proper with newer technology in the steampunk genre.

Vi | 631 comments So sorry I'm late with my review. We're changing ISP and they're so fast that I've had no internet for the last week. Reviewing from my mobile so please forgive any mistakes

I finished Twisted on May 1st. It was an ok read. The misunderstanding was so visible a mile long. I gave it 3 stars.

Turtlecollector Dennis Haven't heard from her since she posted last week. Looks like she was online at least two days ago.

message 36: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Why don't you send her a pm, I'm on my phone or I would.

Turtlecollector Dennis Sent her one just now. So much harder to do from my tablet, but our server went down at work.

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I just now got able to get on Gr since this am! She can turn her review in tomorrow if needed.

Turtlecollector Dennis Me too. I got on for 10 min about the same time as you and then couldn't get on again until now. Hopefully it will stay up now.

message 40: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments It still kept kicking me off some after it was up last night! I'm going to send her a pm too right quick, after the situation with GR yesterday we can make an allowance.

message 41: by Amy (new)

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments Any news about this weeks roll?

Turtlecollector Dennis We can roll this evening even if Samantha hasn't posted yet due to the issues of access yesterday according to Jenne.

message 44: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Ladies I sent out a message for backups and got a good response so now I'm evening out the teams (some teams had 5 players)

Turtlecollector Dennis Well, I am rolling now since I am going to a play tonight. Hopefully that will be OK with everyone. If not, I will check in again after the play before I go to bed and see what is happening.

I rolled a 6 which puts us on Space 20.

We can read #2 in a series or a standalone book. The alternate is an author starting with G.

message 46: by Amy (new)

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments Alright I am on my phone, but I am going to go with the stand alone.

I am reading dead ends by Erin longe

message 47: by Donna (new)

Donna (donnaburks61) Hi Guys...I found you!!! haha

Still have no clue what I am doing!!! Have faith...I will figure it out!!!

message 48: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Lol Donna, the book you pick has to match one of the criteria Turtlecollector posted 2 posts above you (I'm on the app so it doesn't show post #s) your book has to be at least 150 pages and when you're done you post a review here along with the date you finished, rating, and the name of the book. Just look at one of your team mates for example. Ideally have your book done by this coming Thursday, Friday is the last day to finish and review it. Most teams try to be done on Thursday though so the captains can roll at their earliest convenience.

message 49: by Donna (new)

Donna (donnaburks61) Finally...after MUCH searching...I will be reading... My Heartache Cowboy (The Cowboys, #2) by Z.A. Maxfield ...(The Cowboy's #2) by Z A Maxfield 288 pgs/GR
