My daughter & son are die hard Manga fans. My son is reading a lot of Vampire Knight books right now. I should get them in here to chit chat some time :o)
I was given one to read and would not know the title in my Kindle if you told it to me. But I was interested in it so I am up for suggestions also. Maybe we can all do a buddy read. I do a blog and I do all genres but not much Manga comes through on book tours and lists I am on, I think I have to fix that somehow :) Keep me posted!
yeah if we did a Manga read I could get in on it with my son even. It would be fun to connect with my son on his likes and get him connected to others interested in the things he reads :o)
I want to read more manga, I have been watching a lot of anime recently as well and thought why not read the manga also. manga isn't always childish, you can find ones that are more political, violent or futuristic.
I watch a lot of anime with my son and was asking him yesterday if some of what I watch comes from manga. He told me that stuff like Darker than Black 漆黒の花 1 is classed in Japan as a light novel. So does anyone know if thats the same as our Young adult genre or not. But I like watching and reading but I think its watching it mostly. Another favourite of mine is Helsing but I can't find a manga to go with that.
Alucard the most awesome vampire ever!!
I didn't ask you Sonny, what anime have you actually been watching? I agree that it doesn't have to be childish, the stuff I watch isn't anyway:)
I think there are many different forms of Manga now too. Because of the explosion of fans of this form in the US, Manga where it used to read from the back to the front (compared to what we are used to) it is now the other way around here but still read the same way inside the book. I also noticed a lot of Manga being introduced on the Kindle and quite a few free titles to get people started. I have also read quite a few of the Vampire Hunter D novels which the author is considered the Stephen King of Japan. I think he is more of the Guillermo Del Toro of Japan. Anyway, Vampire Hunter D also has 2 movies out. The first is good but a bit dark and old school Scooby Doo animated but the second one they came out with has a symbol in dripping blood on the cover and the animation and story in that is so top notch. It took over 8 yrs to make it and it is a combination of Japanese and American animators work. It has that old Hammer Horror movie feel to it. I highly recommend it :o)
