It is perhaps true what they say that the safest place to hide anything from a black man is in a book. It is less true for many black people now, but an overwhelming number of Nigerians still struggle with the reading culture. Kids in the primary education system are taught perhaps not by design, but are taught to read just to pass. They grow up with that perspective right up until their death, for some, and for the luckier few, they begin to see reading as a tool for deliberate self-formation much later. That is perhaps why there are so few writers in Nigeria and even fewer publishing resources/readers. How can this be helped?

Hilarious stuff. The post above is exactly why only a few Nigerians are going to even see this. I mean, I didn't even know Goodreads was a thing until this month so it is quite forgivable really. But when you consider all of this, you understand why Amazon and the like would rather have Amazon SA or Amazon Kenya perhap seven Amazon Mauritius before Nigeria. It is too funny.
And this trend really is what N.O.W is trying to reverse.
