Cindy | 384 comments A fan club for anyone who wants a more relaxed 2016. A place to chat about goals or no goals, good books. The squirrels run wild here.

A great idea, Cindy. Good luck with your club!

Marina (sonnenbarke) Oooh, thanks Cindy, I like the idea. I would certainly like to read in a more relaxed, "squirrely" way in 2016 :-)

Michael (micky74007) Count me in. I found chasing goals was detracting from getting pleasure out of slow deep reading.

Tracey | 916 comments This year, I overloaded with the challenges. I loved it because I experienced some books that I never would have read on my own, but Michael is right that it also detracts from some of the pleasure after awhile.

Joan Quite agree. A year of relaxing reading is just what I need now I think. Completing the challenge was interesting and on the whole enjoyable, except maybe the last month or so when I've fitted in reading the genres which least attracted me. My own fault I know for leaving these subjects to the end. The challenge certainly introduced me to more styles of books than I would have considered previously and I am grateful to my local library staff for their help in finding and reserving books for me.

Cindy | 384 comments I also overloaded with challenges in 2015. I am a bit nervous for 2016 because usually I have a plan laid out. I am letting the squirrels run wild and see what happens. I even let the squirrels in my Christmas to do list. That worked out better than I expected, less pressure.

Deborah Pickstone | 563 comments This being my first year on GR I spent this year feverishly jumping around in my magpie way, grabbing all the pretty baubles....I did not get much art work done as a result! I intend to take a slightly more low key approach and have already pretty much sewn up what challenges I want to take part in.

My reading will always be full on....I will just ease back on the throttle a little and concentrate on some books I have never got around to - not exclusively, though!

Roseanne | 1239 comments This sounds great and not because I overloaded on challenges but because I am just feeling to lazy to keep track of everything.

Cindy | 384 comments Just checking in, wondering how everyone is handling a new year and new squirrels? Letting squirrels run wild was harder than it seemed. I like to make plans and found myself going back to old habits.

message 11: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments I keep making plans but I don't necessarily think I've been unsuccessful at letting my squirrels run free. It's nice to allow myself to not have a plan of what I intend to read this month.

message 12: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) This month I was very good at sticking to my plans. But I doubt that will be true for the rest of the year ;-)

Michael (micky74007) I haven't had a chance to go to the library lately, so I've hit my local Dollar Tree and actually found some good books there.
Of the four books I've read this year, three have come from this store--at a $1.00 apiece!
