Prologue: Everything

No one quite knew why the poems were often something beyond your imagination. The words seemed to frighten you like lightning, and possibly shake your world like thunder. Some say that underneath the print there is something terrible, something uncontrollable. A whole world could be right below that print, a world full of danger and threats. Magic and power. The poems may be life threatening, and there is much more than just words on parchment.

They could be everything in your greatest nightmare, unless you're careful enough.

ella | 362 comments Yes yes yes I plan to not just forget about this start another story, but to actually get more 'serious' about it! I actually started this months ago, and wrote the whole storyline. It has a pretty harsh ending. I might change it, but it would be a shock to the readers. :D And thanks!!

ella | 362 comments And it was called the Book of Magic before, but I changed it to poems. Plus I've been dying to have a series with the word Chronicles in it, so the title completely changed!

Chapter 1~ Amber

It was a quiet, windy evening in the small kingdom of Neversound. Except for the fear and distress that filled the air from several miles away, in the centre of the kingdom. It still did remain everywhere else in the kingdom, though. Due to an event that was being held; it was only several moments away.

"Jocelyn!" yelled Amber Wildrose, who was sitting on a wooden swing attached to a tree. Her long blonde hair blew in the wind, and faint smile appeared on her face.

Jocelyn Wildrose came out from behind a tree and looked down at her. "Yeah, Amber?" she asked. "Something wrong?" She, too, had the same blonde hair and brown eyes. She was nine years older than her younger sister, yet Amber sometimes seemed as if she were at least ten.

Amber's smile grew just before she spoke in her childish greedy voice. "Can you please push me? Pretty please? With a cherry on top? And sprinkles?"

Jocelyn glanced at the swing that Amber was sitting on. "Yeah, uh, I think I could do that," she walked over to the swing. She knew that her mother would call her in any moment, but she attempted at enjoying a moment or two with Amber.

Amber's face lit up as if she had just received amazing news. "Yay!" she squealed with excitement.

Jocelyn walked over to and behind the swing and began to push it.

"Do you know what I feel like when you push me?" Amber asked, looking behind her at Jocelyn who was still pushing the swing. Her voice was quite high, but it contained pure happiness.

"What?" Jocelyn tilted her head to the side.

"That I'm flying. Like Peter Pan! Except almost cooler. I said almost. Because I'm soaring and - higher! Higher!" Amber exclaimed, pushing her feet back and forth very quickly.

"Okay, okay!" Jocelyn laughed. "Hush, my child!" That was something their mother, Thea, would often say when Amber couldn't fall asleep and was very much awake.

"Sorry!" Amber giggled. "So, are you nervous? For the Poetry stuff?" she asked. Her smile slowly faded and her legs stopped kicking to go higher.

"Somewhat. But there's no reason to worry, really. I'm not as worried as many of the people. So don't you worry yourself, Amber. I promise you everything will be just fine," Jocelyn said. She had stopped pushing her and was now sitting against the tree, facing Amber. She hoped she could keep that promise. She really did.

Amber got up and sat down besides Jocelyn. "But what if you're the Heir or something dangerous? I'd never see you again." She wiped away a tear.

Jocelyn slowly shrugged. "There is indeed a lot of danger in the kingdom. But as long as... as long as..." She didn't exactly know how to comfort Amber with words. With the Poetry Gathering being how it was, there was no comforting. Anything was possible with it.

Amber nodded. "I get it."

Jocelyn smiled. But it was a sad one. "You're smart for a six year old. Did you know that?"

Amber giggled. She hugged Jocelyn, as they sat there together at the tree.

Jocelyn doubted it, but there was always that possibility, sitting right in the middle of the kingdom, that this was the last hug they ever shared.

She heard knocking on a window, and turned around to see her mother knocking on it. She was pointing at her watch. It was time.

"We have to go," Jocelyn signed.

"Okay," Amber stuttered.

The two walked towards the house, not knowing a clue what would happen on this very unknown evening.
