Fantasy Book Club discussion

Anybody interested in either The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley, or Robin Hobb's new Fool's Assassin?

One chapter per day, kindle and HC accepted.

I have not read either; but not new to the authors. I am a huge Hobb fan except for Liveship & Rain Wilds. Haven't read her latest series yet!

I'm not up for either, right now.
I have read The Hero and the Crown....so could pop in, if you get enough interest.

Fool's Assassin I have not read and feel I need to finish Liveship first.
By the way, the group did read this, in the beginning of this year.
You might want to add to those threads, especially if you don't get more interest. We can figure it out.

Can you say what you didn't like about the Rain Wilds? Or would it be spoilery?

I wasn't a member at the start of the year.

I don't hold Rain Wilds in any good regard at all. One of a few books I've ever had to abandon reading.

Rain Wilds was a comination of unsympathetic, inconsistent characterization & characters, mary sues, bad writing that had red flags of ghost writing & poor editing, plot-what-plot, and it was boring.

Don't need to yell. I'm not new to Hobb.

I guess I'll drop the buddy read as Hobb and McKinley have been voted out already.

I've read all the Hobb books save for the soldier son trilogy, but quit reading Liveship and Rain Wilds as I thought they were poorly written. YMMV.

The first of Rain Wilds wasn't good, although much better when you read the second. I'm told it was originally two books which the publisher split to four.
