I need help choosing an original-ish nonhuman being to make my main character, Esther, in my new book.

Please don't suggest: Angel, fairy, fire spirit, personification of fate, snow or ice spirit, ghost (all of these are either overdone or used in one of my other novels).

Thanks. :)

Mr G | 3 comments I believe any thinking creatures able to make choices in their lives, would be acceptable for that role in your work. I used a squirrel for kingdom in the park next to Starbucks. Worked fine.

Alice (alice20) Wow there's a LOT of ways you could go with this one Raevyn. I only have a few at the top of my head at this moment: robot, shapeshifter, demon, troll, siren, mermaid, sorceress...

(by the way, "personification of fate"? Never heard of that one before. Have you used that in any of your novels? O.o)

Thanks. I've never used a personification of fate, but I definitely plan to. :)
