A lot of books are adapted to a film or a tv show, I personally think that tv shows adaptation are way better than film because they can really develop the different characters. My favorite adaptation is Game of Thrones, even though it later diverged a lot from it source material.

I love love love Game of Thrones!! There is also Shadowhunters which is being aired January next month, and Shannara which is being aired January 5th.
I'm going to watch them too when they air, but I haven't read the books, so I'll have nothing to compare them to.
But that way we won't be disappointed if the show doesn't live up to the book. That's why I always prefer to read the book after I've seen the adaptation. And also, I'm not the horrible person who says everything that diverged from the book!
Ugh... Game of Thrones is WAY too gruesome for me.
I really like the Harry Potter movies, more so than the books I think. I did see the movies before I read the books though, and I haven't read the books in a while now. Maybe I should read them again at some point soon.

I also saw the movies before I read the books, each in the theater and the first one when I was 6 so I also had a preference for the movies, because I grew up almost as the same time as all the characters. But now I read the books, the first two at least and it made me a complete fan, I even got a tattoo because of it. I think the books fill out some of the blanks that you didn't even know were in the movies.
