The Immortal Rules is one of the best vampire books I've ever read. What Kills Me was also really good (The ebook is currently free on Amazon). Some other vampire series/books that I know about (I didn't like some of them, but we might have different tastes):
Darkness Before Dawn
Evernight
A Shade of Vampire
The Farm
Drink, Slay, Love
My Love Lies Bleeding
Boys that Bite
Team Human would count, I think, even though the main character is and remains human. She lives in a town with a large vampire population, and her best friend becomes obsessed with the first ever vampire student at their high school. He's over 150 years old, but physically he's still a teenager and he never finished school, so the powers that be allow him to attend school with underage minors. That makes perfect sense, right? Parts of this book annoy the bejesus out of me, as my sarcasm might indicate. Overall, though, it was well written and interesting and less likely to annoy readers who don't have issues with vampires the way I do.
You might like:Throat by R.A. Nelson
Sweetblood by Pete Hautman
Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith
Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde
Boys that Bite is the first book in a series called The Blood Coven about twin sisters Rayne and Sunny who get involved with vampires--and druids--and cheerleaders, oh my. :o)
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's series about the Comte St. Germain is excellent. You can start with any of them, but my favorites are Hotel Transylvania and Blood Games.Of course the original Dracula is always worth a read, if you haven't yet.
Anne Rice's Interview With The Vampire is a modern classic.
Justin Cronin's The Passage is quite good, also Night Watch, also Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian.
I second Peeps. Very interesting take on vampires :) I also highly recommend the Night Huntress series by Jeanine Frost, although it is definately an adult series.
I don't think that Yarbro's St. Germain books are YA. Nor are Jeanine Frost's, although both series are very good.
Julie Kagawa's Blood of Eden series is great. I just finished the last book, its post-apocalyptic and vampires
Though there's some hate around here concerning the series, I'd recommend the House of Night books. I really like the premise of the series and enjoyed it.Start with Marked and continue on from there.
Warm Bodies and The Hunt and The Moth Diaries and Bloodthirsty (not really a vampire but still good)Vampire High and Infinite Days
Have you continued on to the Bloodlines series from VA? Also some of the Night World books deal with vampires so might be worth a read as they're by the author of the Vampire Diaries (the first is Secret Vampire).
